I agree on the powerful role of women to change society: for the good and for the bad. Look at Northern Ireland: I once saw an interview with a Protestant woman from there, and she completely lacked empathy and compassion: basically brutally calling for the head of the nearest Catholic. When a woman stands up for her rights, when a woman refuses to give up her bus seat (Rosa Parks), that affects social change in a positive way. But when a woman expects her man to exact revenge, that society will be violent. The Northern Ireland situation will never change until women on both sides of the religious aisle demand better from their husbands just as this Muslim woman is demanding better from her religious community.

Murder is not condoned??? How about Pat Robertson all but demanding the head of Chavez on a platter? There is a breed of what can only be called "American Christian Fundamentalism" that believes in the superiority and divine call of America in the world above and beyond Christ's call to love thy neighbors. And Pat Robertson is their mullah issuing fatwahs on his daily 700 Club show.

Isn't it amazing that Appalachian people live in rough conditions and we don't hear about the Appalachian people erupting in violence? There is always a convenient excuse for violence.

Given the press's penchant for reporting the latest war death toll (all Bush's fault of course), it is time to turn the tables and begin:
The Newsweek Death Toll: 16 dead, 100 injured. Updates surely to come.

It is amazing to me the difference between the conservatives' "right to death" stance and that of the liberals. Most conservatives are in favor of the death penalty for convicted murderers but otherwise tend to be pro-life. Liberals are exactly the opposite. It seems to me that they consistently oppose the execution of the guilty while fighting for the execution of the innocent. To me, this is borne out by their defense of abortion (the death of innocent unborn), their support of euthanasia (which usually means the death of the innocent elderly and other terminally ill patients) and now their absolutely bizarre but telling support for the death of Ms. Schiavo. The fact that the mainstream democrat party players came out in favor of Ms. Schiavo's death this week will not be lost on red-staters and, hopefully, soul-searching blue-staters. It is just ironic to me that the same people who will be out protesting the lethal injection execution of guilty rapist and murderer Couey in a few years are today fighting for the slow painful execution of innocent Ms. Schiavo through the use of lethal non-injection.

    1. Beheading
The public school system creates an environment where the airing of the beheading of Nick Berg is possible. We are all aware of the public school teachers from New Jersey to California who showed the video to their classmates. I tried a Google search for Judaeo-Christian private schools whose teachers showed the video and found none (please let me know if you do find one). The El Capitan high school teacher declared to his students “That's why we should not be at war.” The America bashing and the resulting “America as the root of all evil” philosophy that is so prevalent among the liberal education establishment lends itself to this type of extremely poor judgement.

    2.Koran reading in school
Federal Judge Phyllis Hamilton ruled in favor of public school students memorizing and reciting prayers to Allah, the same words pronounced over Paul Johnson and Nick Berg as they were beheaded. Please cite one example where a contemporary federal judge permitted the memorization and recitation of “Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has bestowed on us in Christ, every spiritual blessing in the heavens.”

    3.Morality and Politics
Public school institutions encourage a morality in our nation's children that is not acceptable to most Jewish and Christian parents. An acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle is encouraged: children in my school district cannot even make any statement opposing the homosexual lifestyle on school grounds without risk of expulsion. I am not speaking here of bashing homosexuals: simply opposing the lifestyle. But positive talk of that lifestyle is encouraged and praised as “tolerance”. Speaking against the homosexual lifestyle on school grounds is considered a hate crime, but bullying is not. The attitude toward sex and abortion in the public school system is far more liberal than the children encounter in church and at home. So parents and pastors spend much time fighting that influence. It is no mistake that most public school students graduate as “good little liberals”: conservative politics are disdained. In our district four years ago, one small child came home crying because her parents were going to vote for Bush and the teacher said that if the parents vote for Bush, all of the animals and trees will die.
