Following his come-from-behind victory in South Carolina, GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich raised $1 million in 24 hours through a "moneybomb" fundraiser, his campaign announced on Sunday. But Mitt Romney is still winning the money game. The former speaker has significant ground to make up financially, considering the Romney campaign's $15 million advantage in last quarter's fundraising. The Romney campaign expects to raise over $10 million in the run-up to the Florida primary, The Wall Street Journal reports.
  • Why the debt deal is bad news

Don’t be fooled. We’ve just been betrayed by Washington. A deal on the debt ceiling is near and Washington still hasn’t gotten serious about the fundamentals. It hasn’t gotten serious about default. It certainly hasn’t gotten serious about the future. When Harry Reid hails a “bipartisan compromise” you know we’re doomed. Republicans and Democrats have just negotiated away the future of our children behind closed doors. The big compromise on Capitol Hill features elaborate triggers, tranches, Hornswogglers, Snozzwangers, Super Duper Commissions that will make the Snozzberries taste like Snozeberries, and a whole bunch of other convoluted gibberish that will, no...

  • Warner Bros. Moving ‘The Hobbit’ Out of New Zealand (Look for the Union Label)

This is a surprising turn of events for The Hobbit. When a small coalition of actors’ unions in New Zealand and Australia pushed actors’ guilds across the world to boycott work on the films, citing an unfair residuals arrangement, Peter Jackson responded by threatening to move the production to Eastern Europe. But that would never happen, right? The organizations wouldn’t push away a huge chunk of work like the two Hobbit films by holding firm to a set of demands for which the production and backers at Warner Bros. have sought appropriate solutions — that would be crazy. And yet...

To anyone who wrote a sympathy letter to Nancy Reagan: Did you receive a thank you card? When I received one, I thought it was a mass mailing, but I don't know of anyone else who received one. Any tips on preserving it for keepsake? Thanks

Sorry if this is a repost....I can't stop laughing "Do you hear that knocking...President Bush's re-election is at the door." "This race is hotter than the Devil's anvil." "His lead is as thin as turnip soup." "This race is humming along like Ray Charles." "The presidential race is swinging like Count Basie." "This race is hotter than a Times Square Rolex." "Ohio becomes like a sauna for the two candidates. All they can do is wait and sweat." "One's reminded of that old saying, 'Don't taunt the alligator until after you've crossed the creek.'" "Bush is sweeping through the South...

My wife just received her absentee ballot. It showed her maiden name instead of her married name. If she votes and signs via her maiden name will this be O.K. (note: she legally changed her name via the SS, DMV, etc.) Or does she have to re-register to vote or contact the county clerk/recorder? Thanks
