The cop who arrested a nurse in Utah after she refused to take a blood sample from an unconscious man had sexually harassed another police department employee, it has been revealed. Salt Lake City Police Detective Jeff Payne, who is being investigated by the FBI for his July 26 arrest of nurse Alex Wubbels, made “unwanted physical contact” with a female employee on multiple occasions, according to the police chief in a May 2013 letter obtained by the Salt Lake Tribune. Payne also sent a “disparaging email” that was “profane in its content” to the woman using official department accounts....

Past-month cannabis consumption by 12-to-17-year-olds is down by more than 20 percent since 2002. Survey data released today indicate that teenagers were less likely to smoke pot last year than at any point since 2002, despite the message supposedly sent by the relaxation of marijuana laws during that period. In the 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), 6.5 percent of 12-to-17-year-olds reported using marijuana during the previous month, down from 8.2 percent in 2002. That 21-percent decline occurred during a period when 20 states and the District of Columbia legalized marijuana for medical use and eight states...

The University of Utah Hospital, where a nurse was manhandled and arrested by police as she protected the legal rights of a patient, has imposed new restrictions on law enforcement, including barring officers from patient-care areas and from direct contact with nurses. Margaret Pearce, chief nursing officer for the University of Utah hospital system, said she was “appalled” by the obfficer’s actions and has already implemented changes in hospital protocol to avoid any repetition. She said police will no longer be permitted in patient-care areas, such as the burn unit where Wubbels was the charge nurse on the day of...

Penn State climate scientist, Michael ‘hockey stick’ Mann commits contempt of court in the ‘climate science trial of the century.’ Prominent alarmist shockingly defies judge and refuses to surrender data for open court examination. Only possible outcome: Mann’s humiliation, defeat and likely criminal investigation in the U.S. The defendant in the libel trial, the 79-year-old Canadian climatologist, Dr Tim Ball (above, right) is expected to instruct his British Columbia attorneys to trigger mandatory punitive court sanctions, including a ruling that Mann did act with criminal intent when using public funds to commit climate data fraud. Mann’s imminent defeat is set...

A passenger aboard United Airlines Flight 3411 said that one of the three officers who dragged a Kentucky doctor off the plane was “laughing” during the chaotic episode. In a “Letter to the Editor” published in the Chicago Tribune this week, Louisville, Kentucky, resident Jason Powell wrote how he was a witness to the Sunday incident that involved David Dao, 69, being physically dragged off a full flight before takeoff at O’Hare Airport. “The disgusting mishandling of the situation included everyone from the rude ticket agent who demanded that this man give up his seat on the flight … to...

The Drug Enforcement Administration seized more than $4 billion in cash from people suspected of drug activity over the last decade, but $3.2 billion of those seizures were never connected to any criminal charges. A report by the Justice Department Inspector General released Wednesday found that the DEA's gargantuan amount of cash seizures often didn't relate to any ongoing criminal investigations, and 82 percent of seizures it reviewed ended up being settled administratively—that is, without any judicial review—raising civil liberties concerns. In total, the Inspector General reports the DEA seized $4.15 billion in cash since 2007, accounting for 80 percent...

Justice Clarence Thomas questions the constitutionality of taking property from motorists with civil procedures. The idea that the government can take away someone's car or cash without due process offends at least one member of the US Supreme Court. In a statement Monday, Justice Clarence Thomas called on his colleagues to revisit civil asset forfeiture, the process that allows prosecutors to go after assets allegedly linked in some way to a crime. The justice argued the system has been widely abused. "Civil proceedings often lack certain procedural protections that accompany criminal proceedings, such as the right to a jury trial...

Horndog ex-New York congressman Anthony Weiner’s seemingly uncontrollable urge to sext could soon get him indicted, as a federal grand jury mulls charges over his online encounters with an underage girl. The grand jury is expected to begin hearing evidence about the ousted pol’s explicit communications with the out-of-state teen by the end of the month, a law-enforcement source told The Post on Tuesday. BOSTON (CBS) – As we head into Monday night’s first debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, a new WBZ-TV, WBZ NewsRadio, UMass Amherst Poll of 700 likely Massachusetts voters has good news – and bad news – for Clinton. The good news – in a state that hasn’t gone Republican in a presidential election in 32 years, she’s leading by double-digits among likely voters. The bad news – her 13-point margin in our poll is surprisingly weak given the state’s deep-blue status and past voting history. Barack Obama carried Massachusetts by a 23-point margin in 2012, and a 25-point...

Feds spend $1 billion on trolley in San Diego, California. Washington, DC trolley costs taxpayers $9.50 per ride. The US Department of Transportation last week announced it would send $1 billion in cash raised from gasoline taxes to subsidize the construction of an old-fashioned trolley in San Diego, California. Around the country, the return of this Civil War-era technology has generated controversy over the costs involved. Federal officials have responded by giving priority to projects in the most exciting locations. "The beautiful weather and strong job market have long made San Diego one of America's most desirable and fastest-growing metro...

There's been a single fire truck parked on the street between my house and the one across the street for about 30 minutes. (It did not come lights and siren, btw) They've been shining lights in the bushes and trees in my neighbor's yard across the street, but not in mine. I also saw several fire fighters fanned out, walking slowly on the street and scanning it with their flashlights. No police or ambulance have shown up, just the single truck. As I post this, the truck is still there, but I don't see any activity now. It's a mystery.
