Private pharmaceutical companies, for example, foot a significant amount of the costs of drug development, and they do it in a much more cost-effective way.
Data from companies, the United States National Science Foundation, and government reports indicate that companies have been spending only 1.3% of revenues on basic research to discover new molecules, net of taxpayer subsidies. More than four fifths of all funds for basic research to discover new drugs and vaccines come from public sources.

And if they do, they are free to find another carrier, or, pay attention now, pay for their health care themselves.
Uh huh, good luck getting coverage for a pre-existing condition before the government mandated that insurance companies couldn't refuse coverage for that anymore.
Single payer systems outlaw private transactions.
No they don't. Even France has an optional supplemental insurance option.
And yet you have no problem being dependent upon the federal government to keep us free from invasion. So obviously they are capable of doing some things right.

I am not going to accept paying extra for lame, lazy, weak, stupid and perverted on the grounds that it might cost less overall. If anything, Id cut expense by cutting them off.
Oh, then you are all for death panels as long as you get to pick who dies?

I remember a day when the government had very little to do with health care. A much simpler day when you could show up at a doctor's office or emergency room or a major hospital stay and the costs were covered by private insurance, which was reasonable and the premiums were shared by you and your employer.
Was that back in the day when life expectancy was about 60 years old and polio was still a problem?

Tyranny costs much more than money.
And yet a single payer system is good enough for our military men and women. I know quite a few retired vets and one of the biggest perks of retiring from the military is keeping their government healthcare.
