  • Funny Moments From TV Coverage?

    11/03/2004 7:08:23 AM PST · by lawnguy · 2 replies · 165+ views
It was fun watching freepers commenting on the MSM coverage last night. Some of the Dan Rather lines were funny. A few I remember: President Bush has the "Hot Dice" Kerry's chances are as thin as "Turnip Soup" I don't think he broke out he "Lugnuts on a 57 Chevy" line, but I could've missed it. What were your favorite funny or embarrasing moments last night?
  • What happened to Bob Kerrey

    05/18/2004 10:37:29 AM PDT · by lawnguy · 16 replies · 125+ views
I used to respect Bob Kerrey, but he has become a complete grandstanding jerk, pandering in the worst way.A few years ago, Fred Barnes wrote in the Weekly Standard that Kerrey was the "last respectable democrat".(Pre Zell Miller) So much for that.

  • Surrender By E-Mail?

    03/19/2003 5:38:21 PM PST · by lawnguy · 20 replies · 166+ views
I just heard an ABC radio news report that said Iraqi troops are indicating a desire to surrender via e-mail to allied forces across the Kuwaiti border. My question: How does one find the e-mail address of an allied soldier? Was a web address printed on the flyers that were dropped?Of course I know this doesn't matter a hill of beans, but I was just curious. Thanks
  • Question About Battle Plan

    03/08/2003 9:31:54 PM PST · by lawnguy · 9 replies · 13+ views
While reading this thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/860156/posts I had a few questions to ask the experts here: How do you think we will attempt to minimize the oil field sabotage? How many troops do you think would be necessary to do that, and do you think it's a high priority? Do you think they have identified suspected stashes of WMD's and do you expect troops to drop on these areas and "secure the crime scene" so to speak? How about these reported drones, what steps can be taken? What are some of the main differences we will see from the first Gulf...
  • A Very Sad Thing To See

    03/02/2003 8:05:39 PM PST · by lawnguy · 23 replies · 248+ views
I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I saw a piece of video today that showed an Iraqi man jumping into the vehicle of the UN inspectors. This poor man apparently had a book that he wanted the world to see. This reportedly documented torture and abuse that he had witnessed or suffered personally. The inspectors sat on their collective asses and allowed the Iraqi "police" to drag him out of the vehicle and off to whatever terrible fate awaited him.I couldn't help but wonder if a similar thing happened on some street in Germany many years ago. A...
  • Military Question Re: Scuds

    02/06/2003 3:58:32 PM PST · by lawnguy · 8 replies · 138+ views
During the Gulf War we saw much time spent trying to hit those mobile scud launchers, and also saw the patriot missles attempt to intercept fired missles. My questions: How much has the missle intercept technology improved in the interim, and how much has the response time improved to the mobile launchers? On another note, do we expect Israel not to respond to a missle attack? I never will forget their restraint before. I can't imagine how hard that would be to do again.
  • Mr. Toobin's neighborhood of make-believe

    11/06/2001 8:28:49 PM PST · by lawnguy · 8 replies · 89+ views
Jeffery Toobin was in KC today on his book tour. He has written a book about the last election, and claims Gore was the rightful winner. In response to an interviewer to the question of how Gore would've handled the war effort differently, Mr. Toobin made the following statement:"Remember the Bush speech to congress? Remember Tom Daschle hugging the President afterwards? No way that happens with Trent Lott hugging Al Gore. The democrats are used to offering unrequited bipartisanship.I swear, this idiot said it, and everything that comes out of a guys pie-whole after he says something that stupid has ...
  • Question about Jesse Ventura

    10/06/2001 10:04:18 PM PDT · by lawnguy · 3 replies · 13+ views
I just read that Jesse the body will no longer talk to local media. I am curious what his popularity is like in Minnesota. Does he still have a following among young voters? Is he viable for another term? I understand there is a major strike among public employees in Minnesota. Who's winning the PR battles?

  • Bill Richardson: Shut Up!

    09/18/2001 8:41:52 PM PDT · by lawnguy · 28 replies · 4+ views
Bill Richardson is on Fox news about every day lately, as an "expert". If anyone has asked him about the weapons inspections stopping on his watch, or about the other examples of sleeping at the switch, I haven't heard it. This guy has a history of being one of the most partisan leftists in the congress, and somehow he's parlayed this into being an elder statesman. I wish he'd go find his old buddy Daniel Noriega, and relive old times.
  • Here We Go With The Crying Scorecards

    09/18/2001 8:41:44 AM PDT · by lawnguy · 3 replies · 15+ views
I've seen many news reporters today talking about: Who's crying now, who cried last night, who cried the most last week, how are they resisting the urge to cry, etc. One guy even speculated that the President broke out in "full blown" tears after an oval office question session last week.I'm certain many Americans have cried in the last week. We really don't need to keep score.
  • Question For a Pilot

    09/13/2001 5:05:42 PM PDT · by lawnguy · 20 replies · 3+ views
Would it be possible for the Hijackers to switch cockpit radios to predetermined frequencies, and communicate with each other unheard by outside listeners? Just curious.
  • St. Louis Repaid for Vote Fraud

    06/19/2001 3:49:28 PM PDT · by lawnguy · 19+ views
Today, Missouri Govenor Bob Holden thanked the city of St. Louis for keeping it's polls open late on election night. The Govenor and several local Pols,(including lil' Dick Gephardt) were on hand to promise a new baseball stadium for St. Louis, with state funds comprising a portion of the needed funds. It's good to help democrats on election night. It pays!!

  • We've come a long way

    05/23/2001 9:57:03 PM PDT · by lawnguy · 20+ views
Some of you may remember that prior to the 1994 elections, conservatives were hoping to gain IDEALOGICAL control of the House. In other words, most dared not even hope for a majority. As we digest this Jeffords news, we need to take stock in how far we've come. We now have Free Republic, absolute, utter domination of the AM band on radio, and a cable news network that we can actually watch without throwing things at the TV. While I know we can never rest, and we all know that much of the American public consists of absolute idiots, I ...
  • Fineman on Imus

    02/22/2001 4:08:16 PM PST · by lawnguy · 11+ views
Howard Fineman quote on Imus this morning: "I don't think we know half of what happened in the Clinton administration the last 8 years."If I called myself a reporter, and considered myself a Washinton insider, I would be ashamed to admit I was so piss poor at it.
  • John Kasich on Heroes

    02/18/2001 1:22:34 PM PST · by lawnguy · 13+ views
Hey folks, if you haven't caught the show called Heroes hosted by John Kasich, be sure to check it out. It's very uplifting and inspiring. It is on the Fox News Channel and I saw it on Sunday morning. It gives me hope in a rather disgusting period in our history.
  • Freepers go to the dogs

To whoever started the dog show thread: Thank You. I enjoyed every post. I just can't see a bunch of libs getting together and sharing their enthusiasm for their dogs. They are always so grumpy and pessimistic. Is there a similar show for cats?
  • Hey, How About a Little Help Here!

Every time I see Condi Rice walking with Dubya, she's dragging around some huge brief case, suit case, or other similar humongous luggage.Come on Dubya, give the lady a little help, she isn't as big as a bar of soap ;)
