Just this week came news of DYLD_PRINT_TO_FILE — a bug in Apple’s OS X operating system that has allowed a malicious program to take complete control of Macs. *snip* When it comes to security flaws, Windows and OS X are now about tied, says Morey Haber, VP of technology at corporate security software maker BeyondTrust.

The WhiteHouse.gov petition calling for the extradition of Walter Palmer, the Minnesota dentist who recently admitted to killing Cecil the Lion in Zimbabwe, has surpassed 100,000 signatures, meaning the White House will have to respond to the petition. “We urge the Secretary Of State John Kerry and the Attorney General Loretta Lynch to fully cooperate with the Zimbabwe authorities and to extradite Walter Palmer promptly at the Zimbabwe government's request,” the petition reads.

I live in a rust-belt town. Most of my neighbors are the grandchildren of eastern European immigrants. Many are, like me, the children of World War 2 veterans. The majority I'd classify as JFK democrats, old-school conservative democrats. From my front yard I can see one other American flag out today besides mine. One other flag, out of perhaps 25 houses.

They became outcasts. And many were sent to mental institutions. The same has already started to happen with professionals here. If a professor questions global warming, he will be denied tenure. If a businessman questions affirmative action, he will be called a racist and will be forced to resign. And the list goes on.

Then, out of curiosity, I look this charity up on Charity Navigator. The charity's president makes quite a bit over $500,000 a year. Well, that just doesn't sit right. Your thoughts?

WILKESBORO, N.C. — Each month, Wilkesboro’s Irene Triplett collects $73.13 from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a pension payment for her father’s military service — in the Civil War. Triplett, 84, is the last living person collecting a pension payment for service in the Civil War. Pvt. Mose Triplett was born in 1846 and lived to the age of 92. After his first wife’s death, he married Elida Hall, nearly 50 years his junior, in 1924. In 1930, Irene Triplett was born when her father was 84 and her mother was 34.

Until last week, government data on climate change indicated that the Earth has warmed over the last century, but that the warming slowed dramatically and even stopped at points over the last 17 years. But a paper released May 28 by researchers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has readjusted the data in a way that makes the reduction in warming disappear, indicating a steady increase in temperature instead.

Federal transportation officials announced Tuesday that Japanese company Takata Corp. has agreed to recall roughly 34 million vehicles because of defective air bags, in the largest auto recall in U.S. history. Takata agreed to the recall of the 33.8 million vehicles amid mounting pressure and fines from federal regulators over roughly the past year.
