A state representative has filed articles of impeachment against Governor Jay Nixon for his executive order telling the Revenue Department to accept joint tax returns filed by same-sex couples legally married in other states. The articles have been filed by Parkville state representative Nick Marshall (R). He says Nixon’s action goes against Missouri’s Constitution, which voters in 2004 amended to say marriage in the state is defined as being between a man and a woman. ST. LOUIS (AP) — A state senator has asked President Bill Clinton to pardon a man accused of skipping out on a prison sentence stemming from a 1970 Vietnam War protest. Sen. Wayne Goode of Normandy sent Clinton a letter on Feb. 17 as an appeal to a fellow Democrat who, like protester Howard Mechanic, also rallied against the war as a student.
