I have a request for fellow sci-fi buffs. Back in 2015, I checked a book out of the local library, which was apparently the first of a series, begun post-2010, in which an American guy witnesses a UFO crash on a lonely road, ends up amidst a firefight and saves a woman who proves to be the empress of an interstellar empire. Of course, they fall in love and he joins her in space and has to try to protest her as a revolution breaks out. I liked the book a lot, but couldn't find subsequent issues listed. It looked...

Watts Up With That? ^ | 09/08/2017 | Leo Goldstein
The author uses a metric of web traffic to show Google clearly favors climate alarmist and left-leaning sites over those with realistic climate views and conservative leanings.

Like so many of my fellow freepers, I have real intellectual problems with Google and the way it operates, but I've tended to stick with them because their news search function was extremely helpful. But they've changed things and their news search is much less helpful now.
  • Vanity-Trump Should Demand a Special Prosecutor Over Hillary's E-Mail Scandal

Democrats clearly want to play hard ball and have ginned up this Russian controversy in hopes of at forcing President Trump and/or AG Sessions to appoint a special prosecutor who would tie up his administration for years. I think Trump should oblige with a Special Prosecutor to investigate Hillary's treasonous e-mail fiasco. Make the Democrats, including ex-Mr present O'bummer play defense!
  • I'm not a Usain Bolt fan

I have to admit Usain Bolt is an amazing athlete. He looked like a man running against boys in 200 meter final yesterday. Still, his constant showboating turns me off. His total lack of respect for his competitors and post-race antics make me want to gag. I suppose I could stomach those a bit better if he was an American, but I can't say it would greatly change my opinion either. What really chaps my a** is the way NBC and the commentators fall all over this guy. We get these extended segments on him crammed down our throats instead...
  • How should I sell an old pick-up?

I have a pair of old 50's era Dodge pick-ups that have been sitting in the woods since the 1960's. Is it worth my while to try to sell them to someone who restores old vehicles, or just sell them to the junk yard?

I'm starting my own on-line business and, despite some reservations, have been planning to use Paypal to handle subscription payments. They claimed that potential customers didn't need to have a Paypal account. Now in testing the payment links, I have found that Paypal will apparently force customers to create a Paypal account when they pay me. At one time folks were not happy with them, but I was thinking they had improved. Please let me know of your recent experiences with Paypal. What is their reputation? Would having to go through Paypal change your mind about buying a product or...
