Jan. 12 - Low-paid immigrants have won a discrimination lawsuit against the city of Buellton. More than a dozen families filed suit against the city, for forcing them out of low-cost apartments and for not planning for enough affordable housing. The families claimed discrimination, and now the city has settled the lawsuit for $360,000. "They're very pleased, because the community will not be able to approve only wealthy gated subdivisions and instead, will have to plan for all segments of the community," says Ilene Jacobs, of California Rural Legal Assistance.
