A recent French peer review study by renowned infectious disease specialist Dr. Didier Raoult which was published in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents showed promising results in the treatment of COVID-19 with Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ). The French study also showed a significant decrease in “viral shedding,” from patients treated with HCQ. The lower the shedding, the less likelihood that the virus can be communicated to other individuals. As the medical profession evaluates different treatment options, public health officials should adopt early treatment measures with the existing tools at our disposal. HCQ is an inexpensive, safe drug that has been used...

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio's top health official plans to order the polls closed hours before voters were supposed to cast ballots in the state's presidential primary. Gov. Mike DeWine announced the decision late Monday after a judge had ruled against his request that in-person voting be delayed in an effort to avoid crowding at polling places. “During this time when we face an unprecedented public health crisis, to conduct an election tomorrow would would force poll workers and voters to place themselves at a unacceptable health risk of contracting coronavirus," he said in a statement. “As such, Health Director...

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio judge rejected a request late Monday to postpone the state's primary amid concerns about the coronavirus outbreak, but it was not clear if that would be the final word though there were just hours to go before polls were scheduled to open. Judge Richard Frye ruled against an effort backed by Gov. Mike DeWine and Secretary of State Frank LaRose, who had hoped to push in-person voting back to June 2 to avoid putting voters in the untenable position of choosing between their health and exercising their right to vote. But Frye said that...

Sometimes things not mentioned are worth mentioning. We see post after post of political rantings and anti-Trump blather from entertainers, musicians, etc., that put a damper or flat-out ruin what we'd hoped would be a good time. I went to see The Who's "Moving On" concert yesterday and felt it was worth posting that there was not a SINGLE hint of anything political, anti-American, or anti-Trump anywhere throughout the event. We frequently repeat the mantra of "shut up and sing", and The Who did just that. This post isn't meant to be a review of the show itself. You can...

Bengals intercept a pass to seal the game. Promptly fumble it back to the Steelers. Then commit 30 yards of penalties in the final seconds to allow Pittsburgh the game-winning chip shot field goal.

Ok. Keep you friends clues, your enemies closer. That said, who's this babe that filled in for Megyn Kelly tonight? She's absolutely unhinged about McCarthy's withdrawal. She had Frank Luntz on who was equally unhinged. Evidently we all just want Washington to get along according to Luntz' all-knowing focus groups. Big smack-down to conservative obstructionists. I understand the Fox difference between hard news and opinion, but this one was off the charts. Especially for a fill-in.

A US senator is asking the federal government to take this remarkable step: completely ban Bitcoin. Joe Manchin, a Democratic senator representing West Virginia, sent a letter Wednesday to the Treasury Department, the Federal Reserve, and other regulators characterizing the virtual currency as encouraging "illicit activity" as well as being "highly unstable and disruptive to our economy."

CLEVELAND - I saw and heard some very disturbing things on television on Tuesday. What I SAW was live television video showing a tornado tearing through a Dallas, Texas business park. The most amazing site was seeing the twister pick up empty semi tractor-trailers and toss them hundreds of feet in the air like toys. Only to drop them, crashing to the ground in a unrecognizable mess of metal. Ah, the awesomeness of nature! What I HEARD was even more disturbing. I watched a cable television meteorologist, a former Weather Channel met, blame yesterday's Texas tornadoes on...(drum role) climate change!...

On Olbermann’s unjust suspension. MSNBC’s suspension of Keith Olbermann is ludicrous. First, he donated money to candidates he liked. He didn’t take money, or favors, in a way that influenced his reporting. Second, he’s not a reporter. It’s an opinion show. If Olbermann wants to put his money where his mouth is, more power to him. Third, GE, the corporate parent of MSNBC, gives money to political organizations. GE executives and, I’m sure, NBC executives give money. Why can’t Olbermann? Perhaps Olbermann violated NBC News “policy and standards.” But NBC doesn’t have real news standards for MSNBC—otherwise the channel wouldn’t...

CLEVELAND -- Former Cleveland Indians owner Dick Jacobs, 84, has died after a long illness, NewsChannel5’s news partner WTAM reported. Jacobs is responsible for turning the Indians into a dynasty during the 1990s. The team won two American League Pennants and six Central Division championships. Under Jacobs' ownership, the Indians made two World Series appearances, in 1995 and 1997, and set a record 455 consecutive sellouts at Jacob's Field. Jacobs sold the team to Larry Dolan and family for $320 million in 2001.

At best, lawmakers and union officials misunderstood Chrysler's plans for their auto plants. But mounting evidence suggests the worst: that the company and the Obama administration may have misled them. Last Thursday, when Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the company and administration officials said no more plants would permanently close. Court documents filed later that day showed plans to close five, including the 1,250-job Twinsburg Stamping Plant. Administration officials defended their statements from last week, saying they did not lie to anyone. "This was a simple misunderstanding," White House spokeswoman Amy Brundage said Monday. "The Twinsburg plant is...

LUCASVILLE, Ohio -- Ohio has executed a 5-foot-7, 267-pound double murderer who argued he was too fat to die humanely by lethal injection. Richard Cooey died at 10:28 a.m. Tuesday at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville. There were no immediate reports of problems finding suitable veins to deliver the deadly chemicals. His attorneys had argued that his weight problem could make it difficult for prison staff to access a vein. A prisons spokeswoman said earlier that Cooey received a pre-execution exam and was cleared. Cooey was the first inmate executed in Ohio in more than a year, and...
