    My post from this thread:

I think It’s pertinent here as well.

    (quoting myself)

“The top story on reddit.com right now is something along the lines of, “HOLY CRAP, THEY’RE ARRESTING EVERYBODY IN BOSTON! RAGE! RIOT POLICE! RAGE! POLICE STATE! WHARRRGARRBLLL!!”.

I’d be willing to bet that the rally for the jihadist, might be connected to the arrests.

Of course, it could also just be a couple of spoiled college kids acting like spoiled college kids with a trust fund and an inferiority complex because they have yet to do anything of worth with their lives.

Tim Caputo of Channel 7. Boston’s twitter feed says (within the last hour), “I did not see anything like that. A few people were taken to the ground to be put in cuffs. Saw NO injuries”

It’s going to be really hard to sort through the BS for the average Joe who is still asleep. We have our work cut out for us.”

    What a great player.

I would have been happy to see him in a Penguins jersey any day.

I admit, it made me cringe a bit to see him as a Red Wing.

I am just completing a two week tour with the USAF band of the Sendai region. The resiliency of the Japanese people is absolutely astounding. One of the women on our lighting crew literally lost everything but her cell phone in the tsunami- yet she was always smiling, all the time, every day. It has been humbling and quite an honor to come here to bring some happiness to these people.

They have worked so hard, so fast, that in many places, you would never know that the earthquake/tsunami even happened. Americans could learn a lot from the Japanese in this respect.

Still, there are many places that remain utterly devastated. Please continue to pray for Japan. They do need it.

And we’ll pay for it by borrowing more from the Chinese??

They will in turn use our money to build more of their own??

Sounds like a vicious cycle to me.

This is great news for Miller!

Between the bill McCaskill introduced yesterday, (http://www.alaskadispatch.com/dispatches/alaska-beat/88-alaska-beat/7551-sen-mccaskill-set-to-file-8a-reform-bill) to try and get Murkowski in the Democrats debt and the election not being certified, this election cycle is crazy up here!!!

I hope Joe wins! Maybe he’ll show that waste of space Begich how it’s done.

Don’t get me wrong- I’m just telling you what I see up here.

Her enemies are actually furious at the amount of success that she has been enjoying since she left office, and how well she has been connecting with most Americans. Her petty enemies in Alaska can’t touch her now- she’s too big, and too many people like her. They can’t sue her over and over again now that she isn’t governor.

But I’m serious- there are plenty of Alaskans who don’t like her. They think she should have finished her term, and brought the fight that she brings to the national stage on behalf of Alaska as our governor- even if it impoverished her to do so.

This is not to say that if she ran for higher office that she wouldn’t get Alaska’s single electoral vote, because she would. However, Alaskans are a strange bunch politically. These are the same people that elected Mark Begich to the Senate, even though he bankrupted Anchorage as mayor.

She’s not going away, and her reputation here is improving again with time. Her new show is great for Alaska, and Alaskans- and I might add that it is the best campaign ad I have ever seen.

All of this aside- did you see that Claire McCaskill put forward a bill to have the Alaska native corporations lose their status as small businesses despite their multi-billion dollar size, while there will be no change for any other native group in the US? The Democrats are already putting Murkowski up against the wall to make sure that she is in their debt. It will be interesting to see when they are going to call in that debt, and what they use her for. Electing her again was a huge mistake.

    musical_airman to trumandogz

I disagree. There is a significant amount of the population here that are very angry that Sarah Palin didn’t finish her term as Governor- even if staying in office would have brought financial ruin to her family. Aside from Palin helping or hurting Miller, what really made the difference was that Ted Stevens got this state hooked on the federal dollar. There were plenty of people here that thought the moment Joe Miller stepped into DC that all federal money coming to Alaska would suddenly and inexplicably stop. Lisa got the unions, and the native corporations, and all the government employees up here scared as hell for their livelihood. I wouldn’t doubt that the native corporations had plenty of shady things going on in the villages to “help” Murky.

I also think the Miller campaign played right into the hands of the media (who were behind Murky 100%) when those security guys handcuffed a reporter. They should have know they were being set up. That was the beginning of the end for them- and when they were really able to start painting Miller as a nut and a radical effectively. This is, was, and continues to be really strange.

Maybe Miller will run again against Begich. He’s a complete waste of space.

On the bright side, Scott McAdams didn’t win. He makes Begich look like a staunch defender of liberty and states rights.

  • Miller Still Leads In Uncontested Ballot Count

    musical_airman to YellowRoseofTx

Here’s why so many people voted for Murky. It’s really simple, actually. When Ted Stevens was our senator, he did an excellent job of getting loads of federal money sent up here- money that is still flowing to this day. There is so much in fact, that Alaska’s economy is depicted as a “three legged stool”- with one of the legs being the federal government (the others are oil and, “other resources”)- and the idea behind this is that if one leg is cut off or breaks down, the stool collapses. So, all Murky did was convince enough people who are dependant on government for their employment (and with a major military joint base in Anchorage and numerous bases elsewhere in the state, plus the native corporations and all of their employees that get loads of federal contracts for construction, etc.) that if Joe Miller got sent to DC, that as of January 1, 2011 the federal money would suddenly stop flowing. She scared the crap out of a lot of sheeple. And, she also slung quite a bit of mud Joe Miller’s way. It was a really ugly campaign. To sum it up- I really do think the federal money issue really scared a large number of Alaskans, and the amount of pull the native corporations because of the numbers of people they employ had a huge influence on the race.

This one won’t be decided any time soon as they will have to send all of the write in votes to Juneau after tonight for evaluation. It’s not going to be pretty, regardless. Even if Miller pulls ahead, there are enough write ins that this will be the situation. We’ll know who our Senator is next week, and it may even take two weeks because of getting all of the ballots in from the bush.

It’s amazing to me just how many Alaskans there are that think that Alaska will crumble if Princess Lisa doesn’t keep the federal money flowing up here. Her campaign has been unbelievably ugly. The media were doing everything they could do to defeat Miller. This election has been heinous at best.

I’m actually concerned about the impact of her write in campaign. There are a LOT of her signs around, and there seems (but this may be inflated by the local media) to be a significant amount of Alaskans that are afraid that the federal money tap (teat?) will immediately run dry if Miller gets elected. Alaska is so firmly under the boot of the federal government thanks to uncle Ted (all that federal money he brought up here comes at a price) that the last thing we need is a RINO (we have one of those for a governor, that’s plenty) or another rubber stamp yes-man for BHO. Ugh.
