Restaurants throughout South Carolina can reopen for limited dine-in services beginning Monday (May 11th). South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster made the announcement Friday. Additionally, McMaster announced that he has lifted all boating restrictions, as defined by Executive Order 2020-25, effective immediately. All laws and regulations concerning the safe operation of boats in South Carolina will now return to normal. “As we gradually and methodically lift restrictions aimed at combating the coronavirus, it is incumbent upon South Carolinians to follow to the guidance and recommendations provided by our public health experts to keep themselves and their loved ones safe,” said McMaster....

It would appear Mitch McConnell, and the larger congress, just lit the fuse on “the big ugly“. Winter is coming • President Trump has requested all Republican Senators to attend a White House luncheon, held entirely in their honor, tomorrow. • President Trump has also announced a MAGA rally to be held in Youngstown Ohio, next week. • Not coincidentally this rally announcement comes on the same day Ohio governor John Kasich writes an op-ed in the New York Times gleefully celebrating the defeat of the senate healthcare reform and ObamaCare repeal. • HHS Secretary Tom Price is NOT HAPPY....

♦In Part-I we explained how legislation is actually constructed in 2017. NOT how most people think it is constructed – https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2017/04/27/understanding-why-president-trump-has-not-received-legislative-action-from-congress/ ♦In Part-II we explained what that modern reality means with a Trump administration, and what will be needed to overcome the corrupted swamp – https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2017/04/28/part-ii-why-president-trump-has-not-received-legislative-action-from-congress-and-what-can-be-done/ The final paragraphs include accepting the reality and pondering: […] President Trump is not going to sit and wait for congress to evolve in their ability to turn away from existing lobbyists hanging around to defend their interests. Sooner or later President Trump is going to do something dramatic to break the impasse within...
  • The Rise of Manufacturing Marks the Fall of Globalization

Opportunities for producing and assembling products and their components have spread worldwide, making it is easier for countries to climb the production value ladder. States at the bottom, extracting raw materials, can gradually move up, first making low-value components and then progressing to higher-value ones or basic assembly. But just as technology spurred globalization and the shifts in international trade that followed, so, too, will it revolutionize how countries again do business with one another. Compounded by the economic and demographic changes taking place today, automation, advanced robotics and software-driven technologies are ushering in a new era — one of...

    The Hill ^ | 5/9/2012 | By Pete Kasperowicz
House Republicans on Wednesday presented an amendment to a Department of Justice spending bill that would prevent Justice from using taxpayer funds to lie to Congress. The bill, which is likely to pass, was presented by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and supported by several other Republicans who are outraged over a February 2011 letter from the department that denied any involvement in a gun-walking program.... On Tuesday night, the House voted to strip $1 million in funding from Justice in response to the Fast and Furious scandal.

  • Need information on Romney vs. Palin

I've seen the disdain for Romney and blame for his undermining Palin for years here at FR but only as comments within other posts. If I am to explain to others why I hold this against Romney, I need some examples to back it up. Is anyone willing to point me to something as proof? Believe me, I am not defending Romney. I am just uninformed and please don't condemn me for that.

Sanford is being asked the hard questions by Sean Hannity now on Fox. I don't think he's made any progress in his emotional maturity. He wants to talk about economics. Is he looking for a job or testing the waters for another run for office?

Thanks to a clever bipartisan deal, embattled ATF chief Kenneth Melson will testify before Congress about his role in the bungled Fast and Furious gun sting—possibly revealing who on Obama’s team was in on the scheme. The head of the embattled federal agency that combats gun trafficking has agreed to talk with Senate investigators, a potentially important breakthrough as Congress tries to determine whether higher-ups in the Obama administration knew about a controversial sting that let assault weapons flow across the border into Mexico’s drug wars. The testimony—expected next month from Kenneth Melson, the acting director of the Bureau of...

Dear Friends, I write to apologize and ask for your forgiveness. Well beyond the personal consequences within my own family, I know that at so many different levels my actions have upset, offended and disappointed friends and supporters and for this I am most sorry. As I mentioned in last week's press conference, I've always believed God's laws were there to protect us from ourselves, and what has transpired over this last week vividly illustrates the damage that comes personally, and to those you love and respect, in doing otherwise. So in the aftermath of this failure I want to...

Dear Secretary Duncan, By order of the South Carolina Supreme Court, I am submitting the attached application for South Carolina's portion of the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund. In doing so, however, I'd offer a few observations. First, it's important to state one last time for the record what a monumentally terrible idea I believe the entire so-called stimulus act is, and why in particular utilizing this money as our General Assembly has done is ultimately going to cause more harm than good.

This is a portion of a letter sent to his constituents: "Given the South Carolina Senate's plans to debate the state budget this week, I thought it important to write and ask that you urge your state Senator to vote for responsible spending that funds core government services and pays down debt. Now is the time to make your voice heard for a few reasons. One, when you're in a financial hole, it's time to stop digging - and if the all of the stimulus money is simply spent on growing government, it guarantees South Carolina will be in a...

HUCKLEBERRY GOV'S COMPASSION PROBLEM GrassTopsUSA Exclusive Commentary By Don Feder 10-30-07 The problem with former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee isn't his funny name, which brings to mind a character in a Hanna-Barbera cartoon. (What kind of a name is Mitt, anyway?) It's not the fact that he strums a guitar or that, other than governing Arkansas for a decade, his principal claim to fame is losing 110-lbs. What scares me about Huckabee is that he's a practitioner of the ghastly art of political compassion. He could even be one of those compassionate conservatives we've heard so much about -- except...
