  • Vladimir Putin grants American action star Steven Seagal Russian citizenship

Dual citizenship is a safety valve - a Plan B - in the event that the Land of The Free continues to shut down people’s freedoms. The US has already fallen to 15th or 16th on the list of Most Free Countries and if Hillary becomes President we will be falling even further.

It also represents competition between societies...if the country you are in disrespects it’s people, move elsewhere where liberty and the pursuit of happiness gets a better shot. When I can no longer stand living in California (which will be soon) I can move to Texas or Wyoming.

Similarly when the Gramski-ites, Alinsky-ites and the Globalists have completed their socialist transformation of the USA, I will be ready to move to country that affords me a higher level of freedom.

America is not a piece of real estate that I cling to - it is a fundamental idea that I cling to. If and when the idea is extinguished I will be ready to move on.

  • Faulconer wins mayor's race (San Diego Mayor)

As a San Diego City resident I have strongly supported Faulconer as well as Demaio before him. It’s interesting that 3 weeks ago polls showed Faulconer 16 pts ahead of Alvarez.

The SD Union-Tribune strongly endorsed Faulconer as did former Republican Mayor Sanders...then the union money came pouring in!

80% of Alvarez’s money was union contributions! There were even rallies for him in Tijuana! Constant negative TV ads and within the last week the media proclaimed that Alvarez was within 1 pt of Faulconer (46/45 as I recall) and that Alvarez had the big Momentum.

I thought here we go again - It was not until the election results started rolling in Tuesday night that I began to relax as it became obvious that the point spread was not close at all.

Perhaps people finally are waking up to corrosive and corrupting effect of the Union-Democrat Politician complex. Well, at least while the memories of the effects of union money putting filthy Filner in office are fresh in their minds.

Wow! I’m stunned how this site is so quick to digest and accept a story by some rat. Has anyone noticed how the rats are willing to lie through their teeth and say anything to win an election? Are we so gullible that we accept such a story by one unconfirmed rat so readily. Yes, DeMaio is gay but he is the only candidate in the last election that had real credible plans put out on the web to reform city operations and he was the major influence in getting the pension reform proposition on the ballot and passed by the electorate.

As for Marty Emerald, she was one of the two Democrat hold-outs on the council who refused to join the “Dump Filner” movement even when 6 women charged him with unwanted sexual aggression and half of Filner’s staff and supporters had bailed. I think she finally got so much heat from her district that she blew off the unions and siad Filner should quit.

The municipal unions in this town and this state have their talons in many of these rats and the rats do their bidding in order to garner their support and their contributions.

DeMaio is one of the rare breed that actually stands up for the taxpayers. He hasn’t declared for the special election yet but he should be the favorite if he does. The unions know this and will do ANYTHING to cast him in a bad light.

I think this is just another Obama-esque peremptory strike designed to cast DeMaio in a bad light, perhaps to influence him not to run again for the mayor’s seat.

I suggest we don’t do the rats work for them.

Sadly, so much of the population of this country has been mal-educated by a public school system with curricula controlled by socialists and the NEA that most know little about the principles on which the country was formed or how badly we have strayed from the written constitution - Chief Justice Roberts being only the most recent example of personal politics over constitutional principle.

With the national propaganda machine controlled by the federal government, the ability of a state like Arizona to get its message out to those who understand how a federal system is supposed to work, is extremely limited. Because the critical resources (internet, banking system, military, justice system, border patrol, etc) are in the hands off the feds, Arizona will be at a great disadvantage in any kind of stand-off. Needless to say I wouldn't be surprised to see Obama turn a blind eye to any incursions from another Arizona antagonist - the Mexican army.

I am very sympathetic to Arizona but got to face reality.

As a matter of principle, I admire the commitment by The Nature Conservancy to buy land to preserve natural resources for everyone.

However, in this case, I think they over-reached. The need to preserve natural resources does not justify ignoring the needs of the poor residents and planning for an appropriate transition.

After purchasing the land, The Nature Conservancy could have permitted an adequate transition for the indigenous people to relocate over an extended period (years) or made provision for a cooperative situation where they were permitted to continue to live there in a non-interference manner with the refuge rather than just unceremoniously ejecting them.

This kind of thing seems abusive to me because it ignores the culture and traditions of the indigenous community and it gives the impression of a lack of empathy for those who are poor and without power. It smacks of neo-colonialism except that now the governments have been replaced by wealthy private foundations who take over the land by buying it from greedy corrupt tyrants or or private profiteers.

As much as I believe in private property in the US it seems to me that we cannot expect to just move into an African country with different laws, traditions, and culture and extremely poor people and mindlessly treat the land they live on as though it were an extension of the US.

Of course, for the “green” crowd, people are just the root of all environmental deterioration and the fewer of them, the better.

And I thought that the French commitment to nuclear power was the only policy I would ever find to agree with them. Now there are two!

The French are clearly protective of their language and culture and willing to push back when it is threatened. I wish US politicians were inclined to protect American civilization to the same degree.

The Manhattan mosque near ground zero was a clear example of politician’s backbones of Jello!

  • Navy's sci-fi railgun breaks record for most powerful gun on the planet

Here’s some info from the General Atomics Website. GA is heavily involved in design and construction of the high energy capacitor energy storage systems that power the EM launch as well as the advanced rail gun barrel.

    See: http://atg.ga.com/EM/defense/railgun/index.php

With the advantages of hypervelocity launch at speeds in excess of seven times the speed of sound, EM Railgun provides game changing possibilities for both long range Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) of missions far inland (+200 nautical miles) and for ship defense. The advantages for NSFS include elimination of energetics (propellant and high explosives) because the terminal velocity provides sufficient lethality due to high kinetic energy, which translates to significant improvements in ship survivability and a much reduced logistics tail, elimination of unexploded ordnance, and the potential for reduced collateral damage due to the focused nature of energy release.

In the case of ship defense, the launch package can reach the horizon in seconds. This allows for engagement of threats much quicker and farther away than current systems, having the ability to replace multiple systems in the current layered defense approach, with the potential for reduction in the cost to defeat multiple threats by several orders of magnitude, and with a much deeper magazine than alternative approaches.

GA is contracted and has currently partially delivered 81 megajoules (MJ) of capacitor banks for this facility. The capacitors store energy from an AC power source and release it using solid state switching technology in pulses of up to 5.5 mega-amps in 10 milliseconds to power various rail gun launcher experiments and demonstrations. The EMLF will be the principal test bed for the U.S. Navy rail gun development program. When completed, the EMLF will be the largest rail gun test facility ever built.

In addition, GA is developing next generation pulsed power systems that provide mobility and are self contained to operate within a “proving ground” environment using next generation high energy density topologies and components.

Advanced Containment Launcher: GA is currently under contract to develop an Advanced Containment Launcher to support ONR’s INP demonstration objectives in 2011. These objectives include a launcher capable of delivering a muzzle energy of 32 MJ (sufficient to support a 110 nmi mission) with muzzle velocities of 2.5 km/sec. This launcher involves the development of technologies appropriate for fielding tactically relevant containment with a bore life that exceeds 100 shots. GA’s launcher has benefited from the internal development of an industry leading advanced coupled modeling capability that simulates the bore environment and associated mechanical and thermal stresses for an entire launch.

Projectile Development: GA is supporting one of the projectile teams developing a tactical launch package on ONR’s Railgun INP program. GA is applying its advanced modeling tools to predict the bore environment the projectile must survive during launch (EM, thermal, mechanical) and development of armature designs that can sustain the intense thermal and stress environment.

The real underlying issue that permeates all of Muslim culture and sharia law is the supremacy of the male. I view this incident in that light, barbaric or not.

The honor of the male must be sustained, period. Hence, stoning of women, honor killing, etc. In this case, she was accused of adultery but not proven in any sense of “due process” as we would expect in the West.

Most likely, she was raped by a man, and as most of these Arabic cultures tend to respond, SHE was the focus of the blame. The dishonor then is ameliorated by stoning the innocent to death and, oh by the way, any further claims by the victim to the contrary are silenced forever. How convenient!

"And, it's not the fact that he conceded, which is legally irrelevant, it's the fact that he didn't contest the election, which is what allowed Pelosi to seat Owens, so quickly, in the first place."

Absolutely on point. It seems that the Democrats figured out long ago that in these 50-50 elections you have to develop all sorts of tactics to push the election in your direction - they are always chattering about some kind of "fairness" doctrine which simply means its only fair when they win!

I totally agree with comments the disgraceful behavior on the part of bystanders. And the perps who committed this horrendous crime should be given the maximum punishment possible.

But I have a question - the original report I read said that there were FIVE cops at the dance but they were all inside. Has law enforcement become so simple-minded that with five cops in attendance it didn't dawn on anyone to check out what was going on outside in the school grounds? My recollection of school shindigs was that there were always kids hanging outside often with less than the purest of motives.

If there were drugs to change hands or alcohol to be consumed where exactly did the cops think those transactions would take place - in the Principal's office?

Let's see, what Honduras does in accordance with its own Constitution has next to zero impact on the United States or our interests yet we continue to meddle in Honduran affairs, cut-off aid and make a big deal about restoring this anti-democrat Chavez-wanna-be, Zelaya.

In the meantime, Marxist Chavez cozies up with bad-actors like Iran and Libya, threatens intervention in Honduras and continues to suppress democracy and press freedom in Venezuala, our Dear Leader can find nary a word of criticism of Hugo to pass from his lips.
