In 1985, the Irish government boycotted the St. Patrick's Day parade in New York City, the biggest celebration in the Irish American calendar. The cause of its umbrage was Peter T. King, that year's grand marshal and someone the Irish government said was an "avowed" supporter of a terrorist organization, the Irish Republican Army. King, then a local politician on Long Island, was one of the most zealous American defenders of the militant IRA and its campaign to drive the British out of Northern Ireland. He argued that IRA violence was an inevitable response to British repression and that the...

Since he first became a presidential candidate, President Obama must have spent millions of dollars in legal expenses to combat dozens of so-called "birther" challenges seeking the original documents pertaining to his birth. As president, he famously issued an electronic document on the White House website in 2011; the document purported to be his long-form birth certificate, though it is apparently a forgery. In addition, he has taken great pains to hide the paper trail of passport records, college transcripts, and other data -- all of which a prospective employer might require of a job applicant. The public's right to...

Sixty-three months ago Barack Obama officially declared his candidacy for President. Only now are some among the so-called media and ruling elites in America slowly awakening from their self-induced infatuation and beginning to understand who he is. CLARKSTOWN — State police nabbed three people on charges they had a handgun and crack-cocaine when stopped on the New York State Thruway. Troopers reported finding nearly 6.5 ounces of crack, and marijuana, when they stopped a 2001 Chevrolet on Monday, Sgt. John Antonelli said today. Also seized was a Ruger .357 handgun. The car driven by Alex W. Spanos, 23, of Castleton, Vt., was stopped at 4 p.m. for traffic violations, Antonelli said, while headed northbound. Genghis A. Khan, 22, of Brooklyn, apparently possessed the most drugs as troopers hit him with the most felony charges — second-degree criminal...

The U.S. is in the midst of an energy revolution, and we don't mean solar panels or wind turbines. A new gusher of natural gas from shale has the potential to transform U.S. energy production—that is, unless politicians, greens and the industry mess it up.

A close friend and political supporter of President Barack Obama, Alan Solow, is urging American politicians to avoid partisan mudslinging over the issue of Israel. "We cannot allow Israel to become a wedge issue that divides our community and dilutes its strength," said Solow, a Chicago attorney who serves as the president of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. "Of course, we as individuals can prefer some candidates over others, but we must not allow the U.S.-Israel relationship to become the distinguishing factor between the major parties. Our goal should be exactly the opposite: to promote all political...

Will the Obama administration ever start standing up to the Latin axis of caudillos? Nicaragua invaded Costa Rica last month -- yet the State Department is all but AWOL. State is taking a carefully worded, almost neutral stand in the dispute between Costa Rica -- our ally, and the world's most pacifist country -- and Nicaragua, a key player in Hugo Chavez's group of Latin strongmen. Last month, Nicaragua sent troops into a jungle area at the mouth of the San Juan River, which has long been determined by mediators to be on Costa Rica's side of the border.

We've all heard President Barack Obama's American journey. Twice. In "Dreams From My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope," Obama told his glossy, airbrushed story: son of a black father and single mother with international background but American values, a man who overcame his personal struggle with race to become a great uniter. Then there are the untold parts of his background that we've heard from other sources: his associations with Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright. His real estate dealings with corrupt businessman Tony Rezko. His political backstabbing in Chicago. Finally, there are the parts of his story we never...

On Tuesday, US voters are set to repudiate President Barak Obama’s agenda for their country. Unfortunately, based on his behavior in the face of a similar repudiation last January, it is safe to assume that Obama will not abandon his course. Last year, in an attempt to block Obama’s plan to nationalize healthcare, Massachusetts voters elected Republican Scott Brown to the Senate. Brown was elected because he pledged to block Obamacare in the US Senate. Rather than heed the voters’ message and abandon his plans, Obama abandoned the voters. Instead of accepting his defeat, Obama changed the rules of the...

...In his first race for the office, Murphy sold himself as a moderate. But he certainly hasn't voted that way, providing Pelosi with a critical vote on final passage of ObamaCare -- after voting against it the first time around. ...There's only one way to ensure that there's one less vote for Nancy Pelosi continuing as speaker in January: Vote for Democrat Murphy's opponent, Chris Gibson, on Nov. 2.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. Republicans will try to remove their own candidate from the ballot in a suburban New York congressional race because he wrote an article warning against racial mingling, a party official said Wednesday. Jim Russell, 56, a perennial GOP candidate known for his strong opposition to immigration, wrote in 2001 that parents should teach their children "an acceptance of appropriate ethnic boundaries for socialization and for marriage."

Republicans in New York City's northern suburbs say they're withdrawing support for their party's candidate to challenge U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey after questions were raised about an essay he published in 2001. ...The essay came to the party's attention after the Politico website highlighted Russell's essay in a blog post Monday. NEW YORK – The Obama administration is pressing Israel to allow into the Gaza Strip new activist flotillas setting sail from Europe, according to an official in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office speaking to WND. Separately, an Israeli government official said the White House asked Netanyahu for concessions in Israeli-Palestinian negotiations in exchange for U.S. opposition to the establishment of a United Nations commission to investigate Israel's commando raid of a flotilla earlier this week that resulted in the deaths of nine violent activists.
