Just when you thought there couldn't be any more players in the ongoing soap opera over the hunt for President Obama's original birth certificate and his constitutional eligibility for office, there comes yet another name: Elena Kagan. Yes, the same Elena Kagan nominated by the commander in chief to be the next justice on the U.S. Supreme Court has actually been playing a role for some time in the dispute over whether Obama is legally qualified to be in the White House.

President Obama just released his tax returns. Much to my surprise I discovered he filled out an IRS form Schedule C "Profit or Loss from Business" claiming a $5,661,666 business profit from the sales of his books. According to the IRS, in order to be able to file a Schedule C one must be "...involved in the activity (writing) with continuity and regularity." If you aren't, then your income goes on line 21 of your 1040 just like everyone else. The reason for this is simple, people could write off their vacations just so long as they wrote about it...

Columbus, Nov. 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Ohio State Community is “extremely saddened” by the news of the death of Stefanie Spielman, the wife of Ohio State football star Chris Spielman. Stefanie passed away on Thursday after fighting a long battle with breast cancer. She was 42 years old at the time of her death. Stefanie was an activist and fought a public battle against the disease that she herself was afflicted with. She passed away at Upper Arlington, the family’s home. Stephanie was detected with a lump in her breast at the age of 30 years.

TROY — Ian McPherson, 23, loves life. He is passionate about carpentry, motorcycling, target range practice, hanging out with friends and his dog, Murphy. He now faces the biggest challenge of his young life. He suffered permanent spinal cord injuries in a motorcycle accident this past September and is paralyzed from the neck down. According to his Web site on www.caringbridge.org, Ian may have had a seizure prior to hitting a curb on Woodward, catapulting his body into a Christopher Reeve-like accident. When EMS arrived, Ian’s body was still convulsing.

Please include Diane in your prayers. Diane has been a close friend of my friend for many years; I have met and socialized with her on several occasions. She is a devoted wife and mother of two high-school aged girls. After recovering from lung cancer, a recent MRI shows two, or maybe three masses in her brain. I have recently learned that my neighbor, a very kind and warm person, is no longer in remission from cancer. She sucessfully underwent cancer treatment about 10 years ago. I am unsure of her current prognosis; she began chemotherapy treatments earlier this week. Please include her in your prayers. Her name is Barbara.

I found out over the summer that a house on my street (just a handful of houses away) is now a "group home". According to another neighbor the residents are "highly to moderately trainable adults". Supposedly there is one adult supervisor there for about every 4-5 residents. There has already been at least one incident; one of the residents was off his meds, flopping around on the neighbors pool cover and wouldn't leave. One of every 73 U.S. households filed for bankruptcy last year, an all-time high, according to the American Bankruptcy Institute.
