(CNN)Hasher Taheb, 21, of Cumming, Georgia, was arrested in connection with a plot to attack the White House and other federal buildings, US Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia BJay Pak said Wednesday. Pak told reporters at a media briefing that Taheb planned to attack the White House and other locations using explosives that included a homemade explosive and an anti-tank rocket. Taheb was acting alone, he...

The UK's terror threat level has been raised from severe to critical, meaning an attack is considered imminent. Prime Minister Theresa May announced the decision from Downing Street. The move means that military personnel could be deployed to support armed police officers. "It is a possibility that we cannot ignore that there a wider group of individuals linked to this attack," Mrs May said. She said that the threat level was under constant review. "The change in the threat level means there will be additional support available to the police as they work to keep us safe," she said.

In a highly unusual move, President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday night left his Manhattan residence without notifying the reporters covering him or giving any indication of where he was going. The maneuver seemed to deliberately limit access to the media. The only way the press eventually ascertained his whereabouts was after a Bloomberg reporter, who happened to be dining at the 21 Club, tweeted a photo of Trump and some of his transition team in the Midtown steakhouse. Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks later told NBC News. "He is having dinner with his family."

A lone gunman killed a Queens imam and his assistant as the pair walked home from Saturday afternoon prayers, shooting each in the head from close range, cops and witnesses said. Both victims were dressed in Muslim garb when targeted by the shooter, who fled the scene on foot and remained at large. Members of the mosque quickly denounced the double homicide as a hate crime. “That’s not what America is about,” said local resident Khairul Islam, 33. “We blame Donald Trump for this ... Trump and his drama has created Islamophobia.”

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County police are investigating threats against officers made by a woman in videos posted on the Internet. Police say the woman who made the Internet threats lives a mile-and-a-half from a Clayton County police station. The videos are filled with profanity and hate for white people. The woman in the video, who goes by the name Eye Empress Sekhmet, calls for a war on not only white people, but she advocates shooting police officers. "I say let's have a take a gun day, and start walking up on these untrained and stealing their weapons," Empress...

After the employee cafeteria at the Washington Post's office downtown was closed by health inspectors yesterday, Washington City Paper and Jim Romenesko reported on a memo that Jeff Cox, the paper's director of operations and administrative services, sent the staff. That didn't sit so well with Post editorial writer Charles Lane, who just sent an email to newsroom staffers about the publication of Cox's memo: For us, the closure of the cafeteria due to cleanliness issues is a minor inconvenience, a bit of an institutional embarrassment, a modest health issue and, of course, fodder for the usual newsroom snark. For...

One of the Americans killed alongside Ambassador Christopher Stevens in an attack on a U.S. diplomatic mission in Libya Tuesday told ABC News before his death that he was working with the State Department on an intelligence mission to round up dangerous weapons in the war-torn nation. In an interview with ABC News last month, Glen Doherty, a 42-year-old former Navy SEAL who worked as a contractor with the State Department, said he personally went into the field to track down so-called MANPADS, shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles, and destroy them. After the fall of dictator Moammar Gadhafi, the State Department launched...

The strong-willed 9-year-old third-grader had gone to meet Giffords with a neighbor when she was shot. She died later at University Medical Center. Her neighbor was shot four times and was recovering from surgery Saturday evening. Christina-Taylor had just been elected to the student council at Mesa Verde Elementary School and had been interested in politics from a young age, her father, John Green, said Saturday night. Democrats on Wednesday sharply criticized a Republican National Committee fundraising document that caricatured President Obama as the Joker, while Chairman Michael S. Steele sought to distance himself from it.Also depicted were House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.), presented as Cruella de Vil and Scooby-Doo, respectively. The three Democratic leaders were gathered under the heading "The Evil Empire." The cartoonish images were part of a 72-page PowerPoint presentation assembled for potential campaign donors and fundraisers. The document was obtained by Politico after being left at a Florida hotel where the Republicans had gathered Feb....

Congresswoman Diane Watson will hold a news conference about her future plans tomorrow in Los Angeles, according to her press secretary Lois Hill Hale. Hill Hale wouldn't say explicitly that Watson would not seek reelection this fall to what's thought to be a safe Democratic seat, but she called tomorrow's news conference a "major announcement." Watson, 76, represents the 33rd congressional district located in Los Angeles. She would become the 14th Democrat to announce they will not run for reelection this fall. Watson has been a target of the right because she blamed race, in part, for opposition to health...

The devastating impact of the Obama administration’s dismantling of America’s national security and intelligence capabilities has once again come home to roost. We’ve had three terrorist attacks on American soil in Obama’s first 11 months in office. Thankfully we were spared a catastrophic outcome on Christmas Day. Obama and his coven of leftist lawyers seek to criminalize the war against radical Islamist terrorists, treating their institutional demise as a matter best suited to the federal courts. Al Qaeda operatives appear unimpressed with the presidential threats of federal prosecution, having stepped up their efforts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen and in...
