You have never seen my work, how can you reply that my work is on par with high schoolers? I have been doing graphic design for 37+years. I am one of the 25 that are losing their $50,000± per year jobs. Out of the 40 employees who will be soon reduced to 16 employees, I have personally trained 21 of those employees in various versions of QuarkXpress, MultiAd Creator, Freehand, Adobe® Illustrator, Adobe® Photoshop, Adobe® Acrobat, TypeStyler before MacIntosh OSX and I also taught them MacIntosh 5 thru X. The Charlotte Observer has sent me across the country to learn applications for the Mac. The Charlotte Observer has sent me to places such as Madison, Wisconsin where I learned QuarkXpress 4.5 at a community college there. They also sent me to the Rochester Institute of Technology in friggin New York to learn workflow with Adobe® Acrobat. These 22 employees were the core of the Composing Room, now know as Pre-Press. Yes, I guess you can call all of us Dinosaurs, those that paved the way for you up & coming New Age Graphic Designers.
But guess what, all of the New Age Graphic Designers are going to sell their skills to an empty market. American business will seek their New Age Graphic Designers overseas where they can get design talent at a fraction of the cost.
