  • Donald Trump Is The Nominee But Every State Needs To Keep Voting… [Must read article]

Agreed. The primaries were the time to try to fight the GOP candidate that one didn’t like (for whatever reason). Now that the show’s almost over, it’s morally justified to vote so as to avoid the greater of two evils.

I will say, though, that this doesn’t give Trump a free pass for the liberal, anti-life, etc., things that he’s given the nod to; if no one calls him on it and tells him to change (and not compromise on conservative and Christian principles), then he won’t see the need to change.

Sheesh... temper, much? Jesus would be very pleased with you telling me to go f___ myself, I'm sure. [/sarc] Chill out; I didn't name you as part of the "cult", did I? I was speaking in general, and talking about the emotion-driven movement by which many (yes, even on FR) abandon and and all moral principles, one by one, in order to circle the wagons around Trump and his latest stupid statement. Does Trump welcome sexual perversion? Don't call out Trump on it, because he's the one to "Make America Great Again(TM); just attack people for being "Cruz Fanatics", instead. Does Trump throw unborn children under the bus? Don't object; just snarl at the objectors (usually with 4-letter words) and support Trump, who will "MAGA"! Right...

Which part of your "belief in Jesus" has you happy with Trump's insistence that the GOP should abandon its opposition to abortion in cases of rape and incest? Are you peachy-keen with that? How about Trump's insistence that North Carolina was wrong in requiring men to go to mens' rooms, and the like? Does your faith in Jesus make you comfortable with that?

Re: Cruz... is that seriously how you see the world? Those who oppose Trump can only do so because they support Cruz, and no other reason? News flash, FRiend... I'd oppose Trump on these (and other) points, even if Cruz had never been born. Is that so very hard to grasp?

And should I feel so much better, because a spiteful "Trumpet" sprayed condescension [ironically enough], sarcasm and venom at me?

Read and believe the rest of my posts this thread or don't.

I read them. So did lots of others on this thread, who also saw your subsequent denials and "explanations" as self-justifying loads of horse pucky. Your subsequent quiet walk-backs-while-not-admitting-anything were positively Clinton-esque. I was half-expecting you to start redefining the word "is"...

The rest of the projections in your comment aren't worth the dignity of a response. Get well soon, FRiend.

  • Scarborough: 'I'm Never Going to Vote' for Trump If He Maintains Muslim Ban

This is why we could call the GOP “the amoral party” in addition to “the stupid party”: Scarborough glosses over Trump’s green light for taxpayer-supported accommodation of perversion and child-murder, and he gets all verklempt about security screenings and restrictions for native Muslims (which strikes me as just another Trump hyperbole, frankly). Idiocy. Way to keep priorities and draw lines in the sand, Joe...

Trump is running on a small, sharply focused set of promises: build the wall/restore sovereignty, set the conditions for a thriving economy that produces good jobs, get the debt under control, rebuild the military, fix the VA, and rip up bad trade deals to be replaced with deals favorable to the US. These are the promises he will put all his time and energy into. The results will astound.

That would be an intriguing idea, if only he'd kept his mouth shut about his hopes for undercutting moral issues! If he's so focused on those "narrow priorities" (and lots of those promises strike me as "pie in the sky" on which he can't realistically deliver--he just doesn't have the power/authority to do any of them, unilaterally), then why did he even need to COMMENT on tearing apart the last vestiges of moral framework for the nation? No one forced him to opine on those issues; he could've said, "My priorities are jobs and security; don't ask about anything else!"... but no, he let his "inner liberal" shine through, when talking about abortion and sexual perversion. He really doesn't seem to have any moral compass at all... which is just Obama by another flavor, in that regard.

I'd like to agree with you on the "fix the structural things first" approach... but that doesn't work. When a country falls into moral decay, its collapse is inevitable... no matter how good the roads and walls are, in the meantime. And when the decay reaches a critical point, the people will have abandoned the work ethic necessary to BUILD these walls and sound financial structures and deals; they'll be too busy clamoring for bead and circuses.

You mean like “promising to remove the pro-life plank from the GOP platform”? Or “letting sexually-mentally-ill people choose their bathroom, shower, sauna, etc.”? Or “killing family members of terrorists”?

I can’t keep track of all the wonderful promises that Trump has made... [/sarc]

FRiend, you're either being disingenuous, or you're delusional. Remember this "gem"?

Those are the two most un-appealing children of a candidate that I can remember seeing.

Classy, that. Makes one wonder how on earth anyone could "mischaracterize" your posts as being any sort of ad hominem slam against Cruz's kids... [/sarc]

I hear ya. What was posted as an observation, you take as an insult.

Ah, yes... the famous and vacuous excuse of: "I just call 'em as I see 'em! Sorry if that upsets anyone!" Reasonable people also take into consideration the CONTENT of what they say, above and beyond the raw fact that they actually SAID it.

Using your reasoning, one could post any insult... er, excuse me... "negative observation"... no matter how egregious, and claim a complete lack of insult, because...

...well... because you were the one who said it...?

    (?)

Odd stuff which passes for logic, these days.

    That's on you.

Um. Sure. Whatever you say, pal.

The truth of the matter is, there is no basis for criticizing Trump

(!!) Are you kidding me and/or being sarcastic? Because if you're not, then you're going to have to explain that one to me...

This is not a difficult concept: Personal insults directed at Cruz or at his voters do not make it more likely for the 30% of republican voters who preferred Cruz to vote Trump in November.

Exactly. Insults at Cruz (and his family--an especially low blow) just make the insulters look like cretins, and it further alienates those who preferred Cruz.

Why on earth do Trump supporters, when hearing criticisms of Trump, instantly (and as reflexively as dog-drool from a Pavlovian experiment) retort with something like "You're just upset that your guy lost!"...? Is that really the only possible basis for criticizing Trump? That he's "not Ted Cruz"? That's insanity.

Trump has lots of flaws. We need to deal with them, not whitewash them.

I say FALSE! God will judge each and every person making up the country not just the one who is put in Presidential position through proper or improper means.

How does that disprove (or even address) my point? Of *course*, God will judge Trump (or Cruz, or Hillary, or whomever)... but if we, as a country, decide to give our consent to the murder of children conceived in rape or incest, and if we nod our approval at deconstructing all sanity with regard to sexual reality (i.e. who's a man, who's a woman, etc.), and if we shrug our shoulders at sexual perversion becoming the law of the land, then we shouldn't expect God to save our nation from itself. Ancient Greece and Rome fell in very much the same way; why is "America" so much better?

America was great precisely because it was one nation, under God. Remove the last part, and who will save us when we fall? Why should God save America if America would rather that God go away?

And America first can happen even with an ungodly person in office, if the people continue to do right by God.

"America first" is meaningless, if "America" turns into an ungodly, demonic mess. If America embraces and tolerates murder and perversion and abuse of the most innocent, then America doesn't DESERVE to survive, much less "be first" (whatever that means). Read your Bible, especially from the Old Testament, and see how "Israel First" worked out for them; Israel was the world superpower, and they turned for God, and... BANG. Destruction and exile.

God is supreme, not decisions by people in authority!

That's precisely why I'm saying what I've said. If Trump, for example, says to allow the murders of children conceived in rape, and you don't object, then you will have to render an account of that evil choice before God. It's one thing to vote for Trump as the lesser of many evils; but those who genuinely applaud Trump and try to defend and excuse his horrible, amoral choices are on dangerous ground.
