Moscow: A significant volcanic eruption in Kamchatka, a peninsula in far-eastern Russia, has prompted the Federal Agency for Air Transport, Rosaviatsiya, to issue a strong recommendation to aircraft to evaluate their flight paths. Rosaviatsiya said that the Bezymianny volcano, one of the most active in the area and located in the eastern section of the peninsula, erupted on Friday morning with a 12,000-meter column of ash that subsequently began to drift towards the southeast.

I see that 1420’s videos are reposted on Reddit, and those reposts contain cut versions with only negative responses from interviewees. Nobody reposts positive responses because apparently nobody is interested in it! Negative videos usually “sell better” just like the news; while this video has less aggressive people than in the previous videos, my gut feeling tells me, this video will reach less people! Hence, less people will see that there are some sane people. People only need to see babushkas who’re willing to **** everyone, including babies. This comment is a reminder to not use “Russians” with any following...

A fire broke through the upper floors of an under-construction skyscraper in the Tsim Sha Tsui area of Hong Kong and spread to neighbouring buildings in the early hours of Friday (March 3). Debris falling from the burning construction site led to smaller blazes in adjacent structures which were quickly extinguished by emergency services, local media reported. In a public warning, the Hong Kong fire service department advised residents affected by the smoke to close their doors and windows, while local media reported that over 100 people living in the area were evacuated.

A remarkable, perhaps historic storm system, is currently approaching our forecast area. Impacts of concern through tonight: - Severe thunderstorm wind gusts (greater than 80 mph) as storms move through west/central/north Oklahoma and parts of western north Texas - Severe (post-frontal) westerly winds gusting to 60 mph following the line of storms - Significant tornadoes and significant hail produced by severe storms as they track across northwest, west, west-central, southwest Oklahoma and portions of western north Texas (snip)... ...Everyone should have a safety plan in place by now, and by this evening: + People located in mobile homes should urgently...

Can thin diameter 75 ohm coaxial cable be connected to standard or large diameter low loss coaxial cable without creating odd impedance / transmission line reflections and / or losses that are more problematic than the reduced losses in the "better" cable?

Is there an inexpensive way to determine if poor over-the-air TV reception is due to weak signal strength vs. multipath reflections? I am trying to troubleshoot a problem with degraded OTA TV reception that has not responded to installing new cable and connectors. The antenna is fairly new and in good condition.

#1: I am trying to clone the 64 GB eMMC boot drive in a Win 10 Pro Lenovo N22 to a 256 GB SDATA M.2 drive recently installed in it, using Macrium 8 cloning software. I've used Macrium successfully on several machines in the past, from HDD to SSD, and SSD to SSD, but in this case I keep getting an error message: Clone Failed - - VerifyFileSystem Failed. This occurs after the 1st 2 small volumes successfully clone...:

Does anyone know if the Dell p/n: 061p37 (Dell Nvidia NVS 510 2GB Video Graphics Card ) was ever made with GDDR5 RAM)? And if so, what are the performance specs? I ran across a seller hawking just such ( p/n: 061p37 with 2GB GDDR5 ) but I can't find specs on it. All I can find is the old GDDR3 version. ??? Thanks in advance!

As an alternative to finding a video card for displaying documents and fine text from my computer to a 4K TV, I have been looking into 4K Display Port to HDMI adapters. These are available fairly inexpensively even at 4K @ 60 Hz, although the Amazon Basics adapters appear to suffer from too cheap contacts. (I suspect they may be ok if plugged in and rarely disturbed.)

Does anyone know why a "flat", as defined by USPS to be a large envelope not over 15" L x 12" W x 3/4" Thick, costs significantly more to send if it is square, than rectangular. This even if the rectangular flat is larger than the square flat?

A few fellow FReepers know of my work to upgrade my recently purchased refurb Dell Latitude 5490 laptop computer. Here I'll try to tie up everything accomplished so far. Note that I'm not particularly strong in Information Technology, but, since I've been asking a lot of questions, I thought that particularly for those in the market for a new laptop at a modest price, this information may be useful. General comments would be that these machines are available on eBay from reputable sellers fairly inexpensively, especially if one is willing to hunt for a "good deal". The 5490 is (was)...

The ASUS GeForce 710 2GB DDR3 EVO video card specs state "Digital Max Resolution 2560 x 1600", but ALSO state "Interface : Yes x 1 (Native DVI-D) / Yes x 1 (D-Sub) / Yes x 1 (Native HDMI 1.4b) / HDCP Support Yes (1.4)Well, the HDMI (which is what I'm "after", to hook up a 4k 43" TV), if said output is HDMI 1.4b, should support 4k video = 3840 x 2160 pixels resolution. Am I missing something here? Can this card give me a clean 4k output for displaying text (docs, spreadsheets) on this TV?

Can supercooled running water freeze due to a pressure change? Thursday I spent almost all day prepping for our "Arctic blast" that rolled in late in the afternoon. (Most impressive!) Among many other things, I checked to make sure the small thermostatically controlled heating element under our water tank was plugged in. (The wellhouse is part of but outside our house proper.) I ended up getting to sleep around 2 am -- exhausted & filthy I just crashed out on the carpet in the LR. (With all my warm clothes on it was quite comfy.) I woke up ~8 am:...
