As I've stated in earlier posts.....THANKFULLY I no longer work there. I currently work in an all MAC lab and am happy for it.

BTW, Once again, as in your prior post you assume a LOT when you assume we were running Windows 3.0 on those machines.

eeeee-gads! Oh no, no, no...when I think of "mocumentaries", I think of those films created by Christopher Guest, et al that are presented up front as being fictional and for pure entertainment value.

    Best in Show
    Waiting for Guffman
    A Mighty Wind
    [[not my personal favorite]]

I DO like the idea of categorizing Moore's films as "foc-u-mentaries" though...good one!

These statements are almost always BS.

Yeah the head in hand thing looked rather distasteful...not to defend the man...but the reason he is sitting is because he is sitting in a wheelchair. Don't know anything about the man, so not certain why/for how long he's been in that chair. Just noticed it from the TV.

    Hope that helps a little.

PC prejudice shows up in odd spots. Then you will like my story....

As I stated earlier, I'm a teacher teaching technology. Most of the labs in the school are PC...I teach in one of the very few Mac Labs in the building....[[lets all drool now... a lab of iMacs. Makes you smile every time you enter the room.]]

Anyway, no one at school except me and maybe 1-2 other people can even troubleshoot on a MAC, much less know how to set up a peer-to-peer network, or even get the MAC's connected to the school's network.

So in about say.......2-3 minutes???.....I had a MAC in that room connected to the school's server, student server, AND teacher's server. [heh heh heh]]

No one else thought it was possible. The really cool thing is that when I plug an Ethernet cord into my own G4 titanium laptop from home, the ENTIRE network is laid out before me. And I mean the entire network.....Just like an easy road map to follow, if I wanted to [and had access] I could connect to every single server, in the entire school district as everyone of them are shown on my MAC's.

It has always made the powers that be a little nervous...the ease of finding all this stuff on any MAC with AppleTalk turned on.

The school's tech guy couldn't believe it and had to come to see it for himself. A bonified PC guy...knows nothing at all about MAC's...conceded that he had never seen anything easier in his life.

Yeah, I agree. But I'd rather spend a few extra bucks for an extra mouse. I've owned a computer for ....geez......since 1989, and I've only owned a MAC.

I'm a technology teacher and have taught using both MAC labs and PC labs. Since I teach things like multimedia, web mastery and digital graphics...GIVE ME A MAC LAB any day of the week. The years I was forced to teach in a PC lab, I spent so much of my time troubleshooting, rebooting, and calling the tech people for problems beyond my control that it truly was an adventure of the worse kind.

I believe MAC's have their strengths and PC's have their strengths. I've often wondered though why so many PC users felt the need to trash MAC users just right off.

The really great thing for me though, is that I really don't care what a non-MAC user thinks of me or my MAC's. I'll own one until the day I die.

Yeah, I pretty much stayed with C-Span as well. Every now and then, if I felt the need for some commentary, I switched over to Fox.

I momentarily switched to CBS NBC ABC and the noise just made my ears bleed. I quickly turned back.

I am so proud to be able to say that he was the first president I voted for...I was 18 and knew even then I was doing the right thing.

I am sad yet overwhelmed at the pride that he was an American and a Republican and our President.

Okay, sure....but teachers have only one way "up"and that's through getting a position in administration. Most of the good teachers I know refuse to go that route. So as a teacher, I can tell you exactly what I'll be making (or close to it) until the day I retire...and it doesn't matter how HARD I work.

As for working hard??? I really don't want to get into a contest here about which profession works harder. I'm certain we all have our war stories. Dealing with even a few crazy kids, overcrowded classrooms, no money for supplies, kids who don't speak English, at least 6-10 "special needs" kids mainstreamed into each class, complacent and uninvolved parents, bureaucracy, and more bureacracy etc. etc., I can assure you that I work hard.

All I was speaking about was the lack of money AND lack of any possible increase in said money in the profession as a teacher. And living in a city like NY, where the cost of living sky-rocketed but the teaching salaries didn't, I had to move, fins a new career or give up all hope of having any kind of decent life. I chose to move.

I don't believe anywhere in my post did I say EVERYONE makes $150,000 out of college. BTW, you are assuming that I began work as a teacher right out of college so the guy in my example was "fresh out of college" and I ten years his senior.

You are putting words in my mouth (or post).

Its not at all unlikely for someone working 3-5 years in finance or a good brokerage firm to easily pull down $150,000 per year in NYC. Yet I made a little more than 1/4th his salary but still needed to pay the same $1500-$2000 per month for a studio apartment.

Actually there is a large teacher shortage and the reason why many states have implemented programs to help people without teaching certificates (but with real-world work experience) find positions as teachers. I can't speak for all states, but I know for a fact that Georgia and Texas rely heavily on this program. Also, a lot of teacher recruiting goes on overseas in areas like India to try and fill voids in teaching areas.

That doesn't seem to lessen their bitching though.

You know, you may be right. I have been a teacher for 16 years now. I taught in NYC for a long time but literally had to move because I couldn't afford to actually live there on a teacher's salary.

I didn't like the unions but had no power to get rid of them, nor did I like the way they spent their money [MY MONEY] politically. So for the people here using the existance of unions as an argument as to why all/most teachers aren't any good, sorry...but not a valid argument

In NY, I was forced to obtain a Masters Degree in order to continue teaching after 5 years. So at the time, I made about $38,000 with an M.S. and about 10 years experience....competing for the same apartments and standard of living as the bloke 10 years younger than me making $150,000.

But yet I still did it. WHY??? I can't explain it. I felt I had a gift and a calling to teach...it was somehow what I came to this planet to do. Thank God there were and still are more people like me and less like many of the people posting on this forum.

I never cease to be amazed, however, at the people who think teachers have the best-paying job in the world, but wouldn't do it themselves on a dare (and probably wouldn't last one grading period if they did.)

    Amen to that one.
