I saw this ad recently on TV in California. Here's the text +++++++++++++++ Published on Mar 12, 2013 Thousands of young people throughout California can only dream about health care. They want to live healthy responsible lives. But that's hard to do when you can't see a doctor or you don't have health insurance. Check out this 30 second video, "Dreaming of Health Care." We made it in partnerships with a group of young Californians. They're all undocumented. Technically that means they're not US citizens. But we think they couldn't be more Californian. California should not be a place that...

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said, “Obama told me he is still a Muslim, who supports the Muslim agenda.” Aboul Gheit made this statement on Nile-TV. Here is a report on the incident by Israeli Today, an Egyptian magazine: Aboul Gheit said he had a one-on-one meeting with Obama, where the US President told him that He was still a Muslim, the son of a Muslim father, the step son of Muslim stepfather, that his half brothers in Kenya are Muslims, and that he was sympathetic towards the Muslim agenda. Aboul Gheit claimed Obama told the Arabs to show...

Fellow Freepers, Please excuse this vanity, but I may have job opportunites in both Lexington, KY and Binghamton, NY and need more info. Could those who live(d) there freepmail me their thoughts (pro and con) and/or pointers to info? • Vanity - Has anyone gone from being a contractor to being a govt. civilian employee?

    11/30/2004 7:22:09 PM PST · by PrairieDawg · 17 replies · 579+ views
Hello all, A question for all of you. Has anyone ever changed jobs from the private sector to the government? I have an opportunity to do so, with the same pay doing the same job, just for the Navy as a civilian employee. Any thoughts as to the upside/downside of such a move? Stability is a plus as I don't think the Navy is going out of business anytime soon. :-) Any and all thoughts on this would be appreciated. FRegards, PrairieDawg
  • Virginia Beach pointers needed

    01/27/2004 12:46:53 PM PST · by PrairieDawg · 2 replies · 270+ views
Hey VA people! I'm relocating to Virginia Beach in Feb. We have a place to stay for 3 months, but will have to find another place in the area after that. Which areas do I need to stay away from? I know that Norfolk and Portsmouth (sp?) have some rough areas - what other areas should I take out of consideration? I'll be working at Oceana and am willing to commute a bit. Thanks in advance for any pointers or help you can give me on this. FRegards, PrairieDawg

Gang, Hello. I'm considering selling my house here in Colorado and using the proceeds to buy a house outright in either NC or SC along the coast. If any of you have suggestions on where I can find: 1. Housing for under 80K or so. 2. Reasonable school systems for my 2 kids 3. Enough employment (WalMart?) to make living expenses and a bit more. please let me know via FReepmail. I've been a computer programmer for 20 years now and am just not liking what I see as a future in this business, hence the search for a place...

Dale Simmons is throwing out the sodas and candy on the shelves of Gettysburg Elementary School's snack shop and stocking them with healthy foods. In the spring, Simmons was appointed committee chairwoman for the Clovis school's snack shop, which, like others in the Clovis Unified School District, is run by a parent-teacher club to raise money for school supplies such as educational software and dictionaries. For two years, Simmons, whose 9-year-old daughter attends Gettysburg, lobbied to get the shop's selections changed. But because of concern from parents and school administrators that children would turn their thumbs down to the good-for-them...

Coloradans act as 'human shields' By Bruce Finley Denver Post International Affairs Writer Wednesday, April 03, 2002 - Denver schoolteacher Nancy Stohlman was holed up Tuesday with a wounded Japanese woman in a darkened Bethlehem hotel room, wanting to talk with her 3-year-old son back home. The two women were among hundreds of foreign "human shields" determined to protect Palestinians as Israel seized control of Bethlehem in an expanded offensive Tuesday. They believe they can deter Israeli troops. But outside the hotel, tank-mounted machine guns rattled. Helicopter gunships hovered over Bethlehem's central Manger Square, where Palestinian gunmen hid. "We need...
