If you want to understand the dynamics that Obama leashed, read Hayek’s “Why the worst get to the top”, chapter 10 of the Road to Serfdom.

Maybe there was no tanker at Aviano or Sigonella (I doubt it, but possible), but there is always a carrier in the Med and F-18’s can be configured for refueling other F-18s. The Israeli’s would probably have launched a tanker had we asked. Obama and/or Hilary refused the request for assistance, and then, after the Ambassador was murdered, they started the lies and cover-up.

Sorry for the long post. First of all, the report of the attack on Ambassador Stevens went right to the top. They pull the president out of bed or off the golf course immediately for an attack on a US Ambassador. I would bet a month’s pay Obama’s military aids knew about it before Hilary. They have secure comms even on the golf course and it seems Obama was at the White House when this happened, so he knew immediately. We know there was a Predator over Benghazi during the attack, and maybe before the attack started. Predators are slow (about 135 MPH top speed), so just where did this Predator come from and why was it on station at Benghazi so soon? That is the first question we need answered and the first big clue that our government is lying to us. Fighters from Sigonella could have been there long before a Predator. Sigonella to Benghazi direct line is about 500 miles. I am not an Air Force guy, but seems to me, from alert to time on station maybe 45 minutes for fighter. Even an AC-130 is more than twice as fast as a Predator. Helicopters are faster than a Predator. So why was a Predator on station and an unarmed one at that? Getting air support there would not have been a problem. If this was an agency operation, they would have coordinated and planned for assistance. No GO I have ever encountered would have said no to a request for assistance from a US Ambassador under attack. They would have tried with every asset at their command and no one was allowed to try. Someone way up the food chain denied the assistance, and denied it in the strongest terms. Only three make any sense and have the authority to say no. Obama, Hilary or the politically correct Dempsey. Obama probably couldn’t make a decision. Then it was too late and the cover up started.

I am on my fifth deployment since 9-11. During the winter you can send chocolate. It is too cold for chocolate to melt. My wife sends chocolate covered peanut butter drops every Christmas. They arrive fine. Pack the cookies well in a sturdy box. She puts them in a disposable tupperware container inside a cardboard box. The biggest danger to the cookies is getting crushed. You will need to hurry as the Military Postal System is slow in good times and overloaded at Christmas. I think last week was the cutoff for “guaranteed” delivery to Afghanistan by Christmas. No one will care if the cookies arrive before or after Christmas. It is the kind thoughts that count. Thanks for supporting the troops and your cookies will make many great Americans happy.

The GOP-E is to blame. Look at Virginia. George Allen couldn’t win an election in Virginia if he was unopposed, yet he is a favorite of the elites.

I work as a DoD contractor in SSG Bennett’ parent unit in Afghanistan. For our fallen, we conduct a dignified transfer ceremony at the airfield. The ceremony where the military placed SSG Bennett into an empty C-17 is very moving. Several hundred soldiers, mostly US, but also soldiers from all the nations here on KAF form up on both sides of the ramp of the airplane. An MRAP brings the casket to about 200 yards from the formation of troops. The pall bearers carry the flag draped coffin from the MRAP to about 100 yards from the formation of soldiers to where a senior officer and Command Sergeant Major awaits. They salute the coffin and lead the pall bearers into the airplane. As the pall bearers approach the formation, the band plays amazing grace. As the pall bearers pass, the Commander of Troops brings the formation to present arms. As the pall bearers reverently placed SSG Bennett’s coffin in the C-17, the bugler played taps. The pall bearers exit the airplane, the Commander of Troops retires the colors. Very sad and very moving. The C-17 carries nothing but the coffin. May God bless SSG Bennett and all our fallen.

And what exactly has the GOP Establishment done for us lately? Given us McCain, Romney, George Allen, etc. The GOP-E are happy to take pot shots as unidentified sources and stab folks in the back. They are not leaders. They are bean counters and bureaucrats who are enamored with themselves. I learned at Benning a long time ago that no one ever managed a wet, cold, tired and hungry soldier under fire onto the objective. Takes leadership, which the Republican Party has been lacking for a long time. We need wholesale change from top to bottom.
