Count your blessings. My and my husband's monthly premium is increasing by $400.00, from about $2,300.00 to $2,700.00. That's not a typo--we're to pay 27 hundred every month. Our deductible is increasing from 5,000 per person to 7,000 per person. It's ludicrous, but at our age we can't afford to be without it. Too bad cheap catastrophic coverage is not permitted.

If I were younger, I’d do without the insurance. But at my age I have to be prepared for the big stuff like cancer and heart problems. It’s ludicrous that I’m not allowed to buy a catastrophic plan, which is what I’d much prefer.

I’m in North Carolina. The only individual policy provider is Blue Cross Blue Shield. For me and my husband (non smokers, ages in late 50s) our combined premium is 2300 per month with 5000 deductible each. Can’t wait to see what our increase for next year is.

Looks like Mark is still lurking.
I doubt he has time for lurking. Someone probably sent it to him because it was such a stupid rant. It got posted on Facebook, and later Jim Robinson posted a response in defense of Mark.

There is a possibility that Roberts only joined the majority so that he could write the opinion himself and therefore somehow limit the idiocy of the decision.
