  • Need purchasing advice (vanity)

Hello all, I need some advice on purchasing a handgun. I live in the People’s Republic of MD and the new gun control laws are about to take effect (Oct 1st). I am in the market for a .45. I was looking at cheaper than dirt at several models and would appreciate any hints you can give regarding a purchase. Have you dealt with buying guns from cheaper than dirt? Do you have a better source/way to do this? What is the proper procedure for completing this purchase from an on-line retailer? I would also like recommendations for handguns in...

Hello, My wife's (FReeper hellinahandcart) dad has been undergoing chemo and radiation therapy for a fast growing cancer. He's nearing the end of his treatments, but there appears to be something else very wrong. She says that he is basically out of his mind. This apparently is not related to his cancer, according to the doctors. They are trying to get him to take a CAT scan but he is having none of it. He is also suffering from hallucinations now. On top of that, he may be coming down with pneumonia and his white blood cell count is down...
  • 3 reasons Christmas is bad for your company

Yes, this is an actual article... The end of December is notoriously expensive for companies, literally-because everyone who has any room left in their budget is spending it on whatever they can find, seeing that the money is burning a hole in their pockets-but figuratively, as well-because it's a time when company morale can plummet if you're not watching carefully. This post addresses the figurative cost of Christmas. Here are three things that every business owner should be prepared to handle during the holidays. 1. The Christmas Caste System People who are higher up in the organization usually take time...
  • The dishonest Rick Sanchez of CNN

I was flipping around the dial looking at the coverage of other networks' coverage of the Tea Parties. I happened to catch Rick Sanchez of CNN interviewing a Tea Party organizer. First thing he did was pick out an objectionable sign and make the guy defend it. The sign had a white hand with dollar bills in it handing them to a black hand and the sign read "I'm not your ATM." Second thing he did was show an excerpt from a youtube video that was sourced by Huffpo where a guy was talking some crazy stuff and the girl...

Mailer distributed to my home | March 2009 | Private Company
About a week ago, a mailer from a cigar company I have dealt with arrived at my home. It contained this text: Dear Friends, As many of you know and some may not, one of President Obama's first actions was to sign into legislation what is known as the SCHIP bill. This legislation provides for health insurance for children. This legislation was vetoed by President Bush twice as an unfair tax on the American people. This program is almost entirely funded by the tobacco industry, and not just cigarettes. Some of the new taxes on tobacco increase by 2400%. That's...

Ok, I've had it. I just saw that douchebag Wayne Gilchrest endorse Frankie Kratovil ('Rat - Prince Georges County carpetbagging to the 2nd district). Remember him from the immigration vote? This dirtbag is such a lowlife that he can't suck it up and endorse his party's nominee (a true conservative - Andy Harris)! I'm spittin' nails. If anyone has a list of RINO Gilchrest's future speaking engagements over the next month and a half, I will be there. Including taking time off work to confront the sorry SOB. Quite sincerely, 'Pod.

I've been watching with great amusement the rules committee today on CNN. Their vote awarding 1/2 a vote to the Michigan and Florida delegates is remarkable and unbelievable. Think about it. The Democrats have said that their delegates (and hence, their voters) are not even worth the 3/5 vote the Constitution originally gave blacks!

I don't know how I missed this. This is too delicious. Janet Owens, ex-Anne Arundel County Executive, ran a campaign for state Comptroller against King William Donald (who is 84 years old) whose slogan is "Grandpa should give up the car keys." Schaefer's performance as state Comptroller is the stuff of legend (particularly during the Reign of Parris the First). The squabbles that used to erupt during the Board of Public Works meetings have been sources of great amusement across the state. Maryland comptroller candidate Janet S. Owens denounced her opponent yesterday for dubbing her "Mother Hubbard," characterizing the remarks...

Greetings, Today on O'Gasbag, Ellis Henican stated that (after listening to Lynn Samuels audio that O'Gasbag played)there were "whacks" on both sides of the political spectrum - he said that while O'Gasbag only cites left-wing whacks, he would cite "Newsmax, Free Republic, and other far right" whackjobs... Honor roll for tonight's FReep include: Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Mr/Mrs Mason-Dixon, bstein80, Doctor Raoul, staytrue, kristinn, tgsltakoma, angelwood, billf, sauropod, exit148, DollyCali, Wheelbarrow, bert, albion wilde, christopher lincoln, bufordp; dinasour, hellinahandcart and gunsareok. Compared with other years, this year's WHCA FReep was no disappointment. The theme of our counterprotest this year was "Pulitzer Prizes for Treason" given that Dana Priest and others are receiving Pulitzer Prizes for reporting illegally leaked information. There were several signs that alluded to what is going on (only in America), including this brilliant one by BufordP: This point was further reinforced by our very own...

We had 32 people on hand for today's event. The other side had maybe 15. Honor roll for today is as follows: tgsltakoma (tiggles), BufordP, cindy_true_supporter, Mr/Mrs Trooprally, BillF, hellinahandcart, TBP, AGreatPer, W04Man, imacman, chickenhawk, justanobody, gate2wire, iraqikurd, and trueblackman (very late. He was looking at the Cherry Blossoms). The healing heroes included Ryan, Wes, Wild Bill, Bill, Rex, Jerry, Arnold, Cole, Brian, John and a few others. On a bright sunny spring day in Dee Cee, Fred Phelps' caravan of irrational people descended on both Capitol Hill and Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Others can talk to what happened...

Baltimore, which for decades has relied on the power of condemnation to shape its much heralded renaissance, will continue to seize properties when necessary to assemble parcels large enough to attract private development, officials said yesterday. Yesterday's Supreme Court decision backing localities' use of eminent domain to foster economic revitalization removes any lingering doubt about the future of Baltimore renewal projects that depend upon the city's ability to acquire private property, development officials said. "We're pleased the court saw the purpose of using this power - a significant power - in a way to achieve public policy objectives and to...

National Review May 27, 2005, 8:05 a.m. The Commanders America's military leaders make great sacrifices for their troops. By Jim Lacey Last month over 1,500 family members who have lost a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan gathered at Arlington National Cemetery at the behest of an organization called Faces of the Fallen, which has assembled dozens of artists to paint portraits of those killed in Afghanistan and Iraq. General Richard B. Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was the keynote speaker. While his speech managed to strike a few emotional chords, it was what he did after...

Judge Dismisses Sun Suit Against Ehrlich Monday, February 14, 2005 WBAL Radio --------------------------------------------------------- A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit challenging the order by Governor Ehrlich barring state employees from contact with two Sun writers. U-S District Court Judge William Quarles said in his order he was dismissing the case filed by The Sun because The Sun was seeking more access to government officials than that accorded a private citizen. The judge wrote, "The Sun seeks the declaration of a constitutional right that neither the Supreme Court nor the Fourth Circuit has recognized." The judge also ruled the The Sun...

Howdy, I was in my local Barnes and Nobles yesterday and noticed a large black book (approx 1000 pages) titled "The Torture Papers" written by a Karen Greenberg and a Joshua Dratel (not names that I recognized). I did a goodle search on Greenberg and discovered that she has published a couple of times in the American Prospect and has this "37 questions for Donald Rumsfeld" all over the net. The only blurb on the back cover that I recognized was by Michael Ratner. I flipped through the book and it appears that it contains docs that look legit (on...

Greetings, I just received a FReepmail from a friend of mine, Kathe (now known as Two Dawgs) who is a longtime FReeper. She told me that her husband passed away on Monday. Kathe has been here a long time. She used to be the leader of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of FReerepublic. I had the privilege of meeting her husband Terry at the House Manager's Dinner FR event in May of 1999. He was a regular guy and I am sure that Kathe misses him terribly. Please say a prayer for Kathe and leave a note for her on this thread....
