Yeah that’s a real good idea. Don’t vote because the republican candidate is not conservative enough. How many of these fair weather warriors actually work inside the Republican Party to change it? So while the government workers, grant harvesting non profits, anyone with an agenda does vote, not to mention the free s**t Army to collect their “walking around money” vote. You’ll be home crying the day after the election that things just keep getting worse.

The democrats are running things because they took what gains they could. Every inch is one step forward. Maybe the GOP doesn’t have the best candidates but by not voting why don’t you just send Obama and his ilk a free pass to the treasury.

Maybe the Republican Party should just call you up and ask who you would like them to run. We must tell them! Little by little, inch by inch it will change.

This reminds me a liberals argument when I asked why he votes for the party of corruption, He said they are all the same. I replied if they are the same why not vote Republican?

Real quick what’s the last good movie you saw? Stumped huh. There are many reasons they are losing money that’s just one. How about I go once a week to church for my preaching and I don’t have to pay 12 dollars for it. How about some fresh new actors instead of the children of someone who was never that good to begin with. How about some fresh new ideas instead of remakes of remakes. Hollywood is like an inbred family that forgot its roots. People pay to be entertained not to keep you employed.

I live in upstate NY (upstate is anything north of NYC) near the Paladin center. Last year they held some sort of helicopter training at night. For almost an hour they were buzzing the houses and town. It was four copters. They never said what it was but it appeared to be one copter was an observer, two were pursuit and one blacked out copter was the “prey”. The Two pursuits chased the one without lights around and around at low altitudes. The observer held position about half a mile away. The town complained and it never happened here again. The Paladin center was originally a woman’s college changed to Guideposts, and now a tactical training center. ( )

They talked about this and that until the man stated to my amazement he had been retired for 35 years! The woman I was helping said she was retired for 25. As they talked I found they both had worked for the NYC police department. Both put in their 20 years and retired. So here are two formally healthy adults who have been getting paid for a combined 65 years not to work. Paid to stay home longer than they worked. I usually don’t begrudge Police and Firemen a good job since they risk their lives but 65 years is a long time.

For the rest of the story:

Late last year the Republican response to who would run against the Cuomo juggernaut was “we will see if we can find someone with enough money to run”. Since that time no one with the resources has decided to take up as Chris Christie called “the lost cause”. But one man without the resources but the balls to take on Andrew Cuomo has emerged. Unless you live in the lower Hudson Valley you might not have heard of Rob Astorino.

So who is this David who has challenged the Goliath that is the Cuomo machine? Rob Astorino is a born and bred New Yorker who seems to like difficult challenges. His political career started in 1991 as a town councilman for Mount Pleasant. In 2003 he moved up to County Legislator in a race the local papers declared “raised the bar” for local races. In 2005 he unsuccessfully ran for County Executive against long term incumbent Andy Spano. Outspent by nearly four to one he lost by 30,000 votes. Undeterred and wiser he ran again in 2009. In a county that is 61% Democrat and outspent this time by 5 to 1, he defeated Spano by 15%. He defended that win by being reelected in 2013 by 12%.

Against long odds he has decided New York deserves better than the Cuomo dynasty. In town hall type meetings across New York he addresses the most pressing questions about his candidacy. In regards to Cuomo’s $33 million dollar war chest verses his $2.5 million he points to his County Executive race where money didn’t equal votes. He started that race with the same 37 point deficit in the polls. In that race he ignored his consultants who told him some areas never vote Republican. His reply was maybe they never met one and campaigned in Democratic strongholds.

In the next 100 days he will bring his message of change in liberal New York. Change from the high taxes, excessive regulations, and corruption that have dominated Albany for so long. He is building a coalition of gun owners against the Safe Act, Teachers against Common Core, businesses being driven out of New York and voters disenchanted with the promise of better governance from the Cuomo administration.

He admits he can’t win in New York City but if he can convince just 30% to cross over and a majority of the more conservative portions of the state he can win. As of right now Cuomo is avoiding the press and his opponent. As the Astorino campaign picks up momentum that will change. Expect to see ads highlighting Westchester County’s fight against HUD’s social experiment test case “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing”.( Don’t be surprised when environmental groups slam him for supporting fracking along with 31 other states. We can be sure supporters of Cuomo will point out the food vender for Westchester County airport contributed to Astorino but never mention contributions to his predecessor Spano.( It might be a little bit harder for the war on women mantra based on Astorino’s Catholicism since Cuomo is of the same faith.

There is no question Rob Astorino has a long uphill fight to become the next governor. He will be working to get his message out while Cuomo spends his time fundraising. Hiscampaign has been helped by Cuomo’s missteps on the Moreland commission. He has to convince voters to ask is New York better off under Cuomo or do we need new leadership? Voters have to ask are we safer under the Safe Act, are our taxes fair, is corruption under control and does Albany have our best interests in mind? It is then he needs them to vote.

Now I am sure the gang members, criminals, and assorted peasants brought up in a corrupt country who would lie about being a refugee would not lie on the voter registration form and vote illegally. The rest of the story so you don't have to "hit" my column.

You’ve heard the war cry of fixing our broken immigration system so often it has become as ubiquitous as the Karashian’s and about as annoying. But is it broken and can we find evidence to back up that claim? To find out the truth was must look at immigration past. Whatever our conclusions we should review past efforts to fix the system and their results.

When speaking of past immigration the first things that come to mind are the US Mexican border and Ellis Island. Since numbers across the Rio Grande are not reliable we need to look to the gateway for immigrants, Ellis Island. In operation from 1892 thru 1954, twelve million immigrants entered legally past the Statue of Liberty and thru Ellis Island (Ellis Island). At the year of its closure this represented 8% of the US population. Today according to the US census there are 41.7 million foreign born living and working in America. This represents 13% of today’s population. It is estimated 28% of those 41.7 are here illegally (Census). Just in raw numbers that is four times the amount in almost the same amount of time. How is this broken?

Now we should look at efforts to repair the system that allows so many to enter the country. The most comprehensive change in immigration policies was the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Act. (Hart-Cellar Act) This act opened up what is referred to as chain immigration. Before this bill legal immigrants could only sponsor members of their nuclear family. (Wife, husband under age children) This act now permitted siblings, parents, and adult children. This bill also reset the quotes to favor immigrants from South America and Asia. This act was championed by Ted Kennedy and his brother Robert. Ted, in defense of the bill stated “The bill will not upset the ethnic mix of our society”. Robert Kennedy added “Set to rest any fears that this bill will change the ethnic, political or economic make-up of the US”. Lyndon Johnson when he signed it assured Americans “It does not affect the lives of millions. It will not reshape the structure of our daily lives”. This was all prior to “Press one for English” and Telemundo was required for basic cable. Also before Robert Kennedy was assassinated by an immigrant Palestinian who INS labeled “Asian” and would be a dreamer today since he entered the country at age 12. (Sirhan Bishara Sirhan)

The Hart-Cellar act just wasn’t enough so in the seventies refugee programs were added, the 1986 blanket amnesty which was in exchange for closing the borders, and the 1990 immigration act. Even handing out citizenship like lollypops at the border wasn’t enough to repair the system. So in 1994 there was temporary rolling amnesty (245i), extended in 1997 and for the 400,000 who missed the 1986 deadline covered in 2000. That same year the Life Act picked up another 900,000.

Now we know the history of our broken immigration system should we entrust the fix to the same people that tried so many times before? The same people that while preventing citizens from knowing the truth are advertising that 90% of illegal’s will never be asked to leave? The same Department of Homeland Security that now transports abandoned children to questionable families will secure our borders? If not our elected officials, who will protect us from this invasion? It would seem apparent to every informed person currently residing in these United States we don’t need any more bills, Acts, or laws. What we need is elected officials that will follow the existing laws, make good broken promises, or get the hell out!
