Baltimore prosecutors and top police officials met Friday to try to mend relations, which have frayed since six officers were charged earlier this month in the death of Freddie Gray. Since the charges against the officers, local police have complained that the case by State's Attorney for Baltimore Marilyn Mosby has sowed legal doubt about when they can pursue suspects who run away from them in high crime neighborhoods. Mosby's office, in response to questions from CNN about whether she planned to issue legal guidance to police, said she is working to improve coordination.

With five and a half hours left in the Memorial Day Weekend in Baltimore, they have had 27 shootings of which at least 9 were fatal, making it the bloodiest weekend in Baltimore this century. The mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, prosecutor and black activist, Marilyn Mosby, and Chief of Police Batts as well as the rioters and looters in Baltimore have all done their damnedest to separate those abusive cops from the innocent citizens minding their own business on the streets. They got their wish and the streets are running red with blood.

Sometimes I watch (well, mostly listen to) obscure movies that have been ripped onto YouTube. I do this in the hope of finding some overlooked "gem." As you can imagine, such a gem is rare indeed; in fact, so far, I've not found a single one. But earlier today, I did find something that might actually be called interesting. It was in a movie called The Omega Code, which was released in October 1999, obviously timed to coincide with the coming of the new millennium. It is a very bad movie. It's like an end-of-days, "Antichrist Comes In The 21st...

    My Outdoor Thermometer | 29 July 2014 | Steely
I just thought I would point out - as a matter of curiosity - that here we are, at the end of July, about to go into August, and the temperature at my house (in upstate New York) is at present 51° F. When I was growing up in this same neck of the woods, we would typically have a week or so of temperatures above 90° right about now, and a few times would go over 100°, at least for a day or two. Also interesting to note that - at this very moment - "AccuWeather" is saying that...

We've all heard that the law requires the administration to give Congress 30 days notice before releasing prisoners from the U.S. terrorist detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba — a provision the White House willfully ignored in the recent release of five Taliban commandos in exchange for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. (snip) The president will act as he chooses, no matter what Congress wants. The next Guantanamo release could make the Bergdahl battle seem tame.

North Korea has deployed an indigenous unmanned aerial vehicle capable of attacking ground targets based on stolen U.S. target drones, the Pentagon revealed in a report to Congress. Images of the North Korean drone in flight were shown as part of a March 2013 military drill, the Pentagon report said. “The drone appeared to be a North Korean copy of a Raytheon MQM-107 Streaker target drone,” the report said. “North Korean press coverage of the event described the UAV as being capable of precision strikes by crashing into the target.”

Yesterday evening (Wednesday 29 May 2013) Mark Levin took a call just before the end of show that contained a great comment by The Great One. His caller was talking about Benghazi and the other Obama scandals, and was criticizing John Boehner for not appointing a special prosecutor. Mark Levin corrected him immediately: "No, no... he can't appoint a special prosecutor. He can call for one, but [the problem is] he's not appointing a special investigative committee." The caller then went on to say he thought the reason for the low-energy responses of the House Republicans had to do with...
