Nah, just Obama put Rahm Emannuel in Japan to push them farther left and globalist, and they failed massively. Sanseito is the Japanese MAGA party and they got 16 seats(?) while Kokumin (kind of like if David Sacks had a party) got 16 as well? Those were spots LDP/Komeito lost.
Now the coalition will HAVE to be more conservative as the opposition is Rikken (old democrats, only have support in north Japan/hokkaido where there’s a lot of handouts). Isshin no Kai lost a few, but that’s because Sanseito is gaining power.
This is the first time I’ve seen a maga party in Japan, and their campaigners are everywhere. I talked to a few in Enoshima.
I have a feeling there’s an criminal organization sending people to steal and then paying off some of the travel costs as a kickback and reselling everything in community street stands. This isn’t an isolated event.
The real reason is that comedy can’t be done with animosity.
Colbert and Kimmel do their political comedy with animosity towards half of the voting population, so it’s only natural that half the people would stop watching.
I remember both Letterman and Conan’s political comedy, which was always absurd and tongue and cheek, and never really attacked politicians for policy, but personality.
Then there’s the fact that young viewers just watch their comedy on Youtube. They don’t tune in to broadcast TV anymore.
Yeah, the Dems are walking a fine tightrope. They have to pretend that they like the radical left, while still begging for money from centrist donors. The right is behind Trump 95% with some loser never-trumpers that don’t mean much, but the dems are facing a mid-term election where, if they don’t do well, it could mean an ascendant radical left that splits from the dems completely and basically makes them the new whig party.
