I’d expect that if the political sympathies of the populace could be graphed, they’d display a bell curve, with some degree of distortion to the left due to incessant propagandizing by the MSM. As with any bell curve, there’s going to be a small number of data points in the narrow tails; among the far left, there are those who undoubtedly want to know more about the detention camps the Tea Party is planning for black people, the deal the Papal Nuncio has with Rick Santorum to contaminate our oral contraceptive supplies with ricin, and the plot the Koch Brothers...

The ATT national Golf tournament has put U.S. Flags on the flag sticks. No problem, right ? Caddies pull the pin and stand the flag stick upside down. The US Flag is upside down and on the ground. ( I haven't seen the flag-stick put on the ground...yet) CBS hasn't shown it much, just a couple of times. The PGA should be giving these caddies a lesson. I've pitched a B%tch to AT&T National...they said they'd pass it on. Probably too late to matter. <*Rant off>

Did ya' hear the one about... A crusty old Marine Sgt. Major found himself at a gala event hosted by a local libeal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young and idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sgt. Major for conversation. "Excuse me, Sgt. Major, but you seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you?" "Negative, ma'am. Just serious by nature." The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said "It looks like you have seen a lot of action." "Yes ma'am. A lot of action" The young lady, tiring...

That Marines stand tall and rigid in their actions, thoughts and deeds when others bend with the direction of the wind and are as confused as a dog looking at a ceiling fan. that each and every Marine considers the honor and legacy of the Corps as his/her personal and sacred trust to protect and defend. that most civilians don't have a clue what makes us tick...And that's not a bad thing. Because if they did, it would probably scare the hell out of them. that others say they want to be like us, but don't have what it takes...

As I came out of the supermarket that sunny day, pushing my cart of groceries towards my car, I saw an old man with the hood of his car up and a lady sitting inside the car, with the door open. The old man was looking at the engine. I put my groceries away in my car and continued to watch the old gentleman from about twenty-five feet away. I saw a young man in his early twenties with a grocery bag in his arm, walking towards the old man. The old gentleman saw him coming too and took a...

Before he left to train for a second tour of duty in Iraq, Marine Cpl. Joseph E. Stevenson III of Downers Grove wrote a letter to his family, in case he did not return. Stevenson, 20, died in his sleep on Oct. 28 at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Stevenson was buried last week with full military honors. His parents, Barbara Ann and Joseph E. Stevenson Jr., have given the media permission to reprint their son's letter over the Veterans Day weekend. Letter is kinda long, so go to the link http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=75390

Marine infantrymen have a knack for understating the spectacular. When scout snipers with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 6, destroyed a group of insurgents emplacing roadside bombs, the sniper team leader summed it up simply. “We took the shot, the guys dropped, that’s all she wrote,” said 22-year-old Williamston, Mich., native, Sgt. Kenneth D. Russell, a team leader with 3rd platoon, Company C, 1st Recon Battalion. Read more at the link

I had the privilege tonight of observing how the USMC brings home their dead. The thought hit me that I have no idea, nor have I ever seen how our Soldiers are treated. I just hope we are at least as respectful. Tonight as we arrived at the Louisville airport, the aircraft captain announced that there was a USMC Sgt on board the aircraft who was on escort duty. The captain asked all onboard to remain seated til the Sgt had left the aircraft. As we pulled into our gate I observed a lot of people moving around in the...

I am 2 hours post-op surgery. The last words I heard before going under anesthesia were: "Quit Smoking"..from the anestheseologist. The first words I heard coming out of the anesthesia, again by the anestheseologist, were "QUIT SMOKING". Please...no pros\cons of smoking. Perhaps I'm too close to the surgery but, smoking now dries out my mouth, taste absolutely rotten and gives me a headache. I now have very little desire to smoke. Please, no comments about no desire. I don't think what the anestheseologist did is right. It's not his call to get me to quit smoking, it's mine...if and when...

"An academic researcher has found 11 passages in Senator Kerry's published writings that appear to have been taken from other works without attribution, though experts disagree about whether the copying should be considered plagiarism. Six of the passages come from Mr. Kerry's 1997 book, "The New War: The Web of Crime That Threatens America's National Security." All bear some similarity to news accounts that preceded publication of the book." ...

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE RAT TREACHERY !!!! Alabama, Illinois and California are 3 states that require 2004 Presidential ballots be locked & printed PRIOR to the RNC convention 8/31/04-09/02/04. Unless state laws are changed, this can effectively keep Pres. Bush off the ballot in these states. Especially with Hillary the RAT nominee in 2004, I believe the RATS will go to court to have these states enforce their own laws. The question is what can be done about this ? None of the above states appear to be taking any legislative action to rememdey this.

I just wanted to take a minute and share a recent experience. I currently provide tech support and training for approximately 44 Army Reserve Centers in 8 states (Comm). It?s a pretty cool job after 35 years in the business (5thCommBn, 3rdMarDiv,FMF/251 - RVN 65/66). Anyway, it is well known throughout the command that I am a Marine and the usual ribbing works both ways. I was working in a center this past month and an Army Master Sergeant came into the equipment room and said that he had just came back from P.I. where he attended his sons graduation....

The average age of the military man is 19 years. He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears, not ok enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country. He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than wash his fathers; but he has never collected unemployment either. He's a recent High School graduate. He was probably an average student, pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old...

The redesigned Veterans Committee failed to elect anyone to the Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Brooklyn Dodgers first baseman and New York Mets manager Gil Hodges came closest, getting 50 votes and falling 11 shy. Sixty-one of 81 votes were needed for election on the players' ballot, and 60 of 79 were needed on the "composite" ballot, which included managers, executives and umpires. Minnesota hitting star Tony Oliva and NL umpire Doug Harvey each had 48 votes, and Chicago Cubs third baseman Ron Santo had 46."I'm more hurt than disappointed," Santo said. "I was little bit too high. I feel...
