Yes, I have. Didn’t see any celebs, but saw many “regular” folk from different countries, as well as wealthy ones. It was apparent to me that there are also a lot of Americans who live down there, at least part-time.
It’s going to be difficult to contain such things as the swine flu with the amount of travel people from every nation do these days for business, pleasure, adventure, and family reasons, but a great deal more could be done.

I don’t know exactly where you’re going to be, but the village of San Jose, which is not far from Cabos San Lucas, has some very good restaurants and is very well-kept. One evening while we were in the area, they had a night of wine-tasting and art gallery viewings. We had a wonderful dinner at one restaurant there in a courtyard, and no one got sick:)
In Cabos San Lucas, there’s the famous Cabo Wabo, Sammy Haggar’s bar and grill, where there’s good live music every night. One group who was with us spent a long night hitting Cabo Wabo and other bars there. Said they had a good time and there was good music at some of the other places. If you’re into that type of night-life, that’s the place to go.
Sometimes we enjoyed just hanging out/ walking on the beach at night, though it could get cool.

We just got back in the wee hours this past Monday. No golfing, though. I found it interesting that of the many golf courses we saw, no one was playing on them! I take that back. One time I did see a fellow on a cart.
The entire time we were there, we saw only two Federales riding in a pick-up truck. Everything was fine, but the resort industry there has been hurting badly.

I do agree, and was quite surprised when I turned Fox on early this A.M., expecting to be updated with news.

I was up early and saw that it was on around 6 AM. You could probably see it on YouTube or the Fox website. If not today, soon. Might try going to Rick Warren's church website.

And it cost me practically nothing to go to college in the early/mid-seventies:( There’s much blame to go around- gov’t. subsidized and unsubsidized student loans (probably the biggest contributor to constantly rising tuitions), colleges and universities spending gazillions on too-fancy new buildings, etc. I don’t want my kids saddled with so much debt at such young ages, but I am at a loss. I could help them more if we hadn’t lost so much in retirement savings...

I agree savings and lower-cost public colleges are the best way to affordability, but it’s simply not possible in many cases. My husband and I were not able to save much for many years and also didn’t spend on vacations, eating out, new furniture, etc. Our “affordable” state schools now cost @19,000/yr. and neither child received scholarships or grants towards the state schools they were accepted at. One is currently a sophomore at a private college where she’s received $10,000 in scholarships for this year. The total cost is in line with the state schools. The rest of the money must be borrowed, because summer jobs and working part-time while in school provide a drop in the bucket for funding. The whole thing disgusts and depresses me, and neither kid may not be able to finish their degree. I DO believe many degrees are highly over-rated, as well.

We’re supposed to go to Cabo San Jose mid-April. Can’t get out of it, as it’s a company reward trip. Most are still saying that it is a very safe place to visit and I needn’t be concerned, but I still am.

I hear ya. I have a 20 yr. old girl, too, and she says she can hardly stand most guys her age. Far too immature:)
As to the other, family is the tie that binds. Wish more young people were traditional these days.

And she’s gorgeous and you’re a lucky man ;) When I was in my 20’s, I preferred older men. Now that I’m, er, older myself, I prefer downright manly men, of whatever age. My husband of 26 years knows this, lol. OT, thread highjack- sorry!

I don’t know. I have Time-Warner, and called them about it, and all they said was that it had to be something in Fox’s transmission. It’s not due to the cable company or something wrong with their equipment. They did tell me to let them know if it continues, so I will do that. The cutting in-and-out seemed to get better after Feb. 17, for some reason, but the problem is still there. Sometimes better, sometimes not. It doesn’t happen on any other channel that I’ve noticed, so it’s weird. Yours is the first other complaint I’ve heard about it. It’s been driving us batty:(

The captain, a man, was flying the plane. The co-pilot, a woman, was not. It’s often the co-pilot who communicates to the ACT while pilot is flying.
I don’t see anything wrong with the presser annoucing that the auto-pilot was engaged when the plane lost control, if they’ve determined that (which apparently they have.) We non-pilot folks have to be careful with speculation and reactions- any FReeper pilots input welcomed:)

Where’s your school? I’d “kill” to have tuition at that amount. Daughter goes to a small private college in NYS where tuition now is close to $20,000. With her scholarships from said school, her overall cost is about what it would be if she went to a SUNY school, and none of them offered her anything but loans, lol. We don’t know if she’ll be able to continue her education next year. She’s still had to borrow this year, and would have to borrow a lot for the last 2 years.

I shall, too. I’m going to ask them why on earth I’ve never seen them demonstrate or speak out against those that behead, enslave women, kill indiscriminately and use civilians to cower behind? It’s been noted many times on FR, but I’ll never, ever understand the left’s mentality or penchant for being brainwashed.

Good. I know when we were driving it around it received a great deal of interest from people. It’s entrance into the market was delayed, which is par for the course for VW. I don’t know anything about the BMW, but hope to get a ride in it one of these days. I thought the price of the Jetta wasn’t half-bad. Having driven and owned just about all makes of cars over the years, VW has always been my favorite. Not because my husband’s in the biz, either.
As an aside, I recently bought a 2005 F150 4x4 with extended cab( and the V8 engine & low miles), and love the truck. We badly needed a truck and picked it up for a song. Great ride, and it can do everything we need it to do. I don’t need it for commuting, so the gas mileage wasn’t a big concern.

Having had personal experience with the VW Jetta TDI, it’s a great car. My husband’s a manager at a VW/BMW dealership, and we had a Jetta TDI for a while, for test purposes. LOTS of power, quiet, no smelly exhaust, and got 43 MPG when not even broken in. Up until now, at least, the dealership has been sold out. I can’t tell you if demand has slowed presently yet, but since so many folks aren’t buying much of anything, it might be expected.
