Excellent post. Atheism sneers at morality, and considers right and wrong merely as a matter of perspective, yet they dont’t want to be painted as having no morals. You can’t have it both ways.

You’re right, cold water doesn’t rise. But when it sinks, it is replaced at the surface with warmer water, which thus creates a circulation.

Keep one thing in mind: The Germans were then, and sill are ardent Nationalist first, as are all the other Europeans in their small countries. Germans have been socialistic (not communistic) since Bismarck introduced state pensions in the 1870’s. They respect a strong government and like to subordinate themselves to anyone who exudes authority. Only about 20% of all Germans are home owners, the rest are renters. I’ve seen the title “Home Owner” on a grave stone in one of their beautiful cemeteries. Their nationalism stems back to the 1800’s, and grew as Germany became united under Bismarck’s leadership in 1871. They espoused an arrogant racial superiority as Aryans, but Aryans were not considered only Germans, but all Nordic people, like Scandinavians and Dutch too. Germans won’t give up their socialism, even today. But it is not close to Communism, as there were many street battles in Germany before Hitler, between Communists and Nazi Socialists. On the economic scale, those two concepts are usually grouped close together, but there is a world of difference. What are usually described as “liberals” in our country, are actually socialists, but they are afraid of that word. They want more government control of your life, “to help the down trodden”. Income redistribution. We should call them by their real name.

You’re right. There’s a big difference. The krauts today still believe their culture is superior to any other; but the French think the same about theirs. I think it is beneficial to the EU that Poland and other smaller (by population) countries exert a strong voice in the EU against too much Socialism, (they’ve experienced it first hand), and against that stacked constitution, which they won’t allow their people to vote on.

Good post. I use the mute button, or change the channel when it becomes offensive, even on commercials. It would probably help to let your local station know that you change the channel, for program content or offensive commercials. They’re sensitive when it comes to their pocketbook, and may pass it on to the source.

“However, this year you throw in the fact that a number of refineries are operating at reduced capacity because of maintenance and/or equipment problems and what do you know, our vulnerability is shown.”
How do we know that these maintenance and equipment problems are genuine?? I think these oil companies have figured out that they can charge higher prices when they produce less. That’s exactly what Enron did in California a few years ago, when they reduced the supply of electricity and were able to charge higher prices. It’s a win - win situation!

Yes, the times have changed, due to the efforts and expense to the United States. And we don't want "vassals" in Europe, we want friends. Many of us in the US are advocating getting out of NATO, because it seems to have contributed nothing to the safety of the US. Can you picture a NATO, or even a world without America? Do you think Putin and his successors will treat the little European countries the same as it does now? Just think in your terms of "Realpolitik". Europe couldn't even handle the small problems in Yugoslavia by themselves. It needed the backbone of the US. As long as the Europeans have the security of the US in back of their mind, they want to be totally independent, just as teenagers rebelling against their parents. America, as divided as it is right now, politically, still has the moral compass of what's right, and what's wrong, whereas the Europeans, even more divided among themselves, only concern themselves with whats in the best financial interest of their small countries. Morality has left Europe, but political correctness flourishes. The German government elites won't even allow the German citizens to vote on the EU constitution, because they know what the outcome would be. They think you people can't be trusted. Your bureaucrats want to maintain their status, and your social welfare recipients want more and more benefits. The population is decreasing, and who will pay for all the goodies? I think you are heading in the direction of communism, with your striving of income equality. And we all know what communism has done for your countrymen in the East. Just think what Germany would be like today, if the whole country had been under communism, instead of just the East.

"To me America is still much more important than a few Arabs. Nevertheless I also think it is idiotic that the US loose themselves in sabre-rattling if they obviously do not have the means to accomplish."

That's very heartening to hear, that America is still more important to you than a few Arabs. We do not have the means to accomplish? Here you all see the arrogance of most Europeans, whose asses we saved from Communism, and protected them for 60 years with our hard earned tax money, even after we kicked Germany's and Japan's asses! We don't have the means? We have the strongest economy in the world, we have 4.5% unemployment, we have 300 million population, and we don't have the means? Don't be stupid. We don't have the political will. The Iraq war was well intentioned, to free that country from a vicious dictator, and introduce democracy. We have learned some things from that. We could easily send enough troops there to finish it properly, as we did with Germany. So enjoy your freedom at our expense, don't bother to say "thank you" for your socialist welfare state we allow you to have, because you don't have to spend your money on your own defense. And don't believe everything you read and hear on you leftist and jealous news media: Here's clue: Hillary will never be elected President, in her life time!

You're a sick man, and a hater! Russia was ripped off by the "oligarchs", who stole all of Russia's resources when they bribed the alcoholic Yeltsin. When you take something worth $100 from a child, and pay him one dollar, you're the thief. I could care less about BP or Shell; those are international conglomerates with loyalty to no one, and if you invested in BP that's your problem, not mine. Investing means taking risks!

Very good analysis by Krastov, who I assume to be a Russian also. Poland has reasons to be suspicious of Russia, (and Germany) but in my opinion, Russia is doing no more than trying to maintain influence in her sphere of interest, which is what we do also in the Western Hemisphere under the Monroe Doctrine. The EU will have to take Poland's views seriously, because it is a member of the EU, with veto powers, if not yet much economic power. Poland, being deeply religious and patriotic, can be an example to the rest of the EU, which has been able to prosper for 65 years under the umbrella of the US, the American taxpayer.
