China believes they can suppress anything they don’t agree with by use of fear and law. However, fear, as St. Thomas Aquinas said, “is a weak foundation; for those who are subdued by fear would, should an occasion arise in which they might hope for immunity, rise more eagerly against their rulers, in proportion to the previous extent of their restraint through fear.”
The truth will always come out no matter how hard Communists try to deny it.
Hong Kong has already a China imposed National Security Law imposed upon them which is used by the local government to persecute their enemies and to suppress dissent.
Now they are working on a local version which will suppress even more free thought. They claim that various human rights are protected but they never mention religion as either a human right or even being protected.
Churches in Hong Kong are slowly bowing down to China. There are very few that still promote the truth. We will have to wait and pray for the future.
Ransom Stoddard (JAMES STEWART): You’re not going to use the story, Mr. Scott?
Maxwell Scott (CARLETON YOUNG): No, sir. This is the West, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.”
Mostly true. If you are arrested for one of the vague laws of “national security” you are assumed, by the government, to be guilty. If the courts find you not guilty then the government will complain that the judge doesn’t understand and is basically just stupid about the law. Then the government will file as many appeals as it needs to make sure they get the “correct” verdict. At least they don’t shoot you....yet.
In Hong Kong, you can disagree with the government but if they don’t agree with your interpretation of the facts then they will deem it “misinformation” and not only denounce the “facts” but also set the record straight according to the government. Finally, they may arrest the person for subversion and inciting hatred towards the government.
