The United Nations has reprimanded a security guard for drawing swastikas on a log sheet later seen by a guard from Israel, a U.N. spokesman said Tuesday. The guard who drew the swastikas was issued a letter of reprimand and was asked to attend sensitivity training for the September incident, U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said. Dujarric would not identify the guard who was reprimanded. The Israeli guard also was not identified. The United Nations in recent years has tried to live down an infamous 1975 resolution that equated Zionism with racism, which was repealed in the 1990s.

Things didn't work out well at the Olympics for Johnny Weir, the flamboyant American figure skater. Favored to take home a medal, he finished a disappointing fifth after a very rugged long program. But Johnny shouldn't feel too bad. When he hangs up the skates, there could be a promising second career for him . . . as a member of the liberal media. Interviewed on CBS' Early Show this morning, Weir explained that he knew he wasn't at his best on the day of the long program, and in particular wasn't "feeling pretty." Then, waxing philosophical, he noted that...

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Bill Clinton insisted yesterday that he never "disgraced this country" or "lied to the American people about my job." The remarkable outburst from Clinton came as officials in Little Rock denied that his presidential library glosses over the Monica Lewinsky scandal and subsequent impeachment. The gala opening for the $165million library will be held today with President Bush along with former Presidents George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter in attendance. In an interview with ABC's "PrimeTime Live," which airs tonight, Clinton repeated his claim that the Lewinsky scandal was more the product of vengeful Republicans and...

Osama bin Laden boasted that the invasion of Iraq has bogged down the United States in a hopeless war that advances al Qaeda's recruitment goals and bin Laden's aim of bankrupting the U.S. economy, according to a translation of the full text of the terrorist leader's remarks on a videotape that surfaced last week.

HOUSTON, Pa. (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry will appoint Supreme Court justices who will safeguard a half-century of civil rights gains if he is elected president, his wife said Friday. "Fifty years after Brown v. Board of Education, we are reminded now more than ever that we need a Supreme Court to protect our hard-won victories. John Kerry will appoint the kind of judges that protect our civil rights," Teresa Heinz Kerry said. "John Kerry will appoint judges that interpret our constitution and don't go there for political reasons to divide our country."
