Ok, make up your mind, one person has him jumping, and another wishing health upon him.

One of Bernard Lewis' conclusions is that there is little that the West can do to hasten the process of reform within the Islam civilization. In fact, he states that any attempts to do so will probably only make matters worse. If you are arguing that Iraq is the first step towards this modernization, I don't think Lewis would accept that as a wise first step.

"Because the funding sources and the population bases of the enemy are off limits. Another approach..."

I don't think we tied our hands. Iraq was a state funding terrorism and certainly the population centers have been targeted. So if our methods don't work here, will they anywhere?

"... he didn't mention one of our main enemy: the enemy within, the Democrats and liberal media."

These guys are pussycats compared to all those other groups he mentioned. Anyway, isn't Allawi a Shiite? Boy, we sure got a lot of enemies. I liked it better when it was only the commies.

Best wishes to Dick Cheney on a complete and fast recovery.

I hope Mr. Cheney can stay on and fulfill his service to the country, but I wonder if it wouldn't be better for him and the country, if he would consider resigning. We do live in dangerous times, and as we know, on 9/11 the V.P. was needed to relay the shootdown orders to our fighter pilots. What immediate and stressful situations the V.P. will face in the future we can only guess at. The grind of a presidential campaign could weardown the best of us. Anyway, good luck Mr. Cheney!

Somebody didn't make their data field big enough.

But is it that simple? If they used an "unsigned int" the field could have held up to 65536 votes. Seems like this field type would still be too small, so nix the forgot "unsigned" in "unsigned int". So how else? Maybe they thought an "int" was actually a 4 byte field which could have held 2147483648 votes. With a 32 bit compiler this would be true, however for a 16 bit compiler it would still only hold 32767. Is this the reason? This stuff ain't rocket science, but it can be complex, which is the point of my post.

It's too bad that our elected officials have not shown greater competence in establishing accounting standards and procedures to avoid this kind of thing. These irregularities only give the left the chance to discredit the election, our candidates, and the veracity of the entire system. We should demand more from the people on the election boards of this country, because someday, we may find ourselves on the losing end, wondering whether or not the system was rigged against us. Demand competence, don't take it on faith.
