The healthy choice Cheers to Claude Peck for his candid appeal to ban smoking in Minneapolis restaurants and bars. We are quickly falling behind the rest of the nation in protecting our entertainment workers and patrons from the third-leading killer in America. Smoke-free ordinances are sweeping the nation. Breathable indoor air is now a right in El Paso, Texas; Boston; Dallas; Tempe, Ariz.; Boulder, Colo.; Eugene, Ore.; Albuquerque, N.M.; New York, and hundreds of other cities. Will Minneapolis compete or retreat? A smoke-free city ordinance doesn't mean smokers cannot smoke; it just means they cannot do it where they can...

The Associated Press Thursday, September 5, 2002; 7:13 PM ALEXANDRIA, Va. –– A bankruptcy judge will allow US Airways to walk away from leases on 57 airplanes it no longer uses because of a reduced flight schedule. The ruling Thursday reaffirmed a previous order. US Airways parked 57 aircraft after the Sept. 11 attacks, when a slowdown in air travel forced the airline to reduce its capacity by 23 percent. When the airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Aug. 11, it sought to terminate the lease agreements on those aircraft. At the time, a judge issued a conditional order...

R.T.: You see, you know the trouble with now having to live half way up a cliff is you feel so cut off. You know it takes me two hours every morning to get out onto the moors, collect m' berries, chastise m'self, and two hours back in the evening.

Tom Hanson, Chaska (MN) magazine publisher, says, "The continuing problems of blatant liberal bias at the Star Tribune can be solved very simply .... Start staffing the newsroom with professional journalists instead of professional advocates." He sent three examples of "blatant liberal bias": "Rush Limbaugh's July 9 radio show noted how newspapers have managed to lose their stylebooks when it came to identifying Gary Condit." Rep. Condit, D-Calif., is the central figure in stories about the April 30 disappearance of Chandra Levy, 24-year-old intern. "Condit was being identified simply as a representative instead of a Democratic congressman from California as ...

From what's being posted on FR about Delta Force, I'm getting the feeling that BillyBub may not be able to slip out of this one. Do you suppose that right now he's checking out political asylum in, say, Britain or France? Both Tony and Jacques are his buddies. I don't know about Britain, but isn't France littered with any number of former dictators who had to leave home in a hurry? I believe that Baby Doc Duvalier is there. Now that I think of it, isn't Pinochet of Chile in Britain seeking asylum?
