This guy was a friend of a friend. He was there for sure and even made it into the movie. I also met a woman who was there. The both had interesting stories to tell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcJQbMzApxY
My son is friends with Steve’s daughter Lilly and he produced a record for her. One day I get a text and it is a pic of a check from Winwood enterprises. It was a milestone in his music career. I got to meet Lilly when she played near by a very humble sweet girl. You would never know she was from rock royalty.
There is a lot of good new music out there but you never get to hear it on the radio. Here is a band playing music which it almost 100% influenced by old music. The dead, Allman Bros, soul music for starters. They finally have gotten some airplay on xm radio within the last couple of weeks. https://youtu.be/ebaSPs_kTjA
The story I heard years ago was that the Eagles copied what Poco was doing. The guys from Poco looked around and said well crap we might as well quit because the Eagles are doing what we do only better. Better meaning more commercial
I would like to commend the City of Richmond and the Police Dept. Everything was well organized police directed buses to parking and traffice flow was good. The police were alao helpful when they were asked directions ect. It was a cold day but a good one
There are plenty of new bands. The record companies are broke because they failed to adapt to new technology in time. The radio stations won’t play anything that doesn’t fit their little tiny idea of what they think people should hear. So bands self release their records and play shows for gas money and struggle. Its a hard life unless you are like Taylor Swift who came to town with $100,000 of daddy’s money and bought a record contract and management.
A friend went by at 7 am people are already gathering. Rumor is 12,000 ticket requests for today. The center hold about 10,000 depending on the floor seating configuration.
A year ago I got to see the Allman Brothers play Live at the Fillmore from start to finish at Lockn Festival. This was one of their last shows before calling it quits.
My son wrestled at Tech. Tom Brands was his coach senior year. He described Brands as a very intense guy but Joe very much respected him and still communicates with him. The Tech team has come a long way since those days Kevin Dresser has done a great job as he did at Grundy and Christiansburg.
