Election night there will be a very select group of Republicans...they call themselves..."Straight-Ahead-Republicans from Freeperland", and they will be partying as the returns roll in, at one of Chicago's northwest suburban famous watering holes, The Mill Rose Brewery and Lynching Barn... at 8 PM, on Barrington Road just north of I-90 in South Barrington, IL.

As a news source, FR retains it's vitality. Problem is that so many of the old "activist" conservatives have long since left...along with open, free and spirited discussions on Free Republic's direction. The Clinton gang has done a remarkably good job of blunting and countering conservative thought. The Republican Congress (and Party Leadership)represent weak-kneed, squeaky voices, without a clear message, and all too ready to kiss Clinton/Gore's socialist butts. Exasperation reigns! Twice this morning I'm clicking away here on Free Republic Chapter territory, trying to get eye-witness recaps of yesterday's Ohio meetings...perhaps (and perhaps not) "key" to the future of many midwest states in the Freeper Celestial Heavens. I try to get some news on that glorious "conclave" (could this be an overstatement of fact?)... of the Ohio/Midwest Chapter doo dah in Columbus, and all that happens is that I get redirected to Bugbears webpages and a Ohio Newspaper article that is buried in some inconspicuous link!!. I have been working undercover at a large office of our "Public Health" Department, and an enlightening story will follow. But on an equally important matter... The Midwest Chapter votes thisafternoon on new Chapter Rules, Officers, etc. As past state representative (Chicago upstate)...and participant at many rallies during 97, 98, 99...I would like this "Chapter" dismantled and power be returned to each state that remains. The leadership for a multi-state operation has been weak at best, with Mr. Bugbear's malcontent site and feeble efforts to retain control, for what reason, I know not what.
