I like Cain's ideas and his record of acomplishment, but how did the end product work? In this case, taste. Closest one to me is 100 miles in the wrong direction.

Everytime I mentioned it today, I got weird looks, but I really expected to see some respect for the date from Freepers. 4/19 is the anniversary of colonial patriots picking up their muskets and telling the worlds foremost military power that they weren't taking anymore. I am ordering parts to repair the torque tube on my 1970 Opel GT. The question I have is, why is it there? What purpose does it serve? It would seem to me that a simple driveshaft would suffice, but no, I have a heavy (everything seems heavy in an 1800 pound car) piece that serves, as far as I can see, no purpose. I have read the Wikipedia definition of what it does, but this makes no sense to me. Can someone tell me in layman's terms why it is there?

I want to remove a useless letter of the alphabet. Why is there a "Q"? Why does it have an unearned spot in the alphabet? The most useful letters of the alphabet are all front loaded. A good friend of mine has made the decision to join the military. He is doing this not out of a need for a GI bill (he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 4 yr degree) or for personal gain. He wants to serve his country and do something for a cause greater than himself. The problem arises from the fact that he is 34 years old and has been diagnosed with ADD.
