  • New Bill Seeks to Rein in FCC Regulatory Authority

Do you like the Internet in its current state? Do you like that you have the same ability to visit FR as you do Google, Yahoo!, etc?

Then why would you be against network neutrality? That is the basis of net neutrality. It is regulation, yes, but it regulates how bandwidth providers treat traffic that uses its network. Net neutrality would stop bandwidth providers from discriminating against websites or applications that use their networks. It essentially is an idea to preserve the level playing field that is the Internet currently.

I really hope that if this becomes a hotly debated issue that everyone on both sides really stops and thinks about what net neutrality is. Is it really another communist plot to want to keep the Internet open and fair? Do you want these companies discriminating against certain websites and giving them second-class service? Or do you like the fact that FR has the same access to its users as any other site does on the Internet right now? Who is AT&T or Verizon to tell you that FR doesn’t deserve the same quality of service? This is what net neutrality aims to stop, folks. Is this discrimination happening yet? Not yet. Could it happen? Definitely, look at our cable TV ffs. It’s just a matter of time.

In closing, the Internet as it is, is currently the last bastion of free speech in the World. Net neutrality does not want to change this, it wants to protect this. Don’t let your mistrust of the Democrats cloud your judgement on this one. Believe it or not, even scumbags have good ideas once in a while.

One last thing, if you don’t believe me that’s fine, don’t take my word for it. I encourage you to please, go find some non-partisan articles on the issue. Learn about the technical aspects of net neutrality. Find out what it really means, before you decide.

I smoked all day every day for the last 3 years and I didn’t get any more depressed than I’ve always been. It did help my depression and made me more social. I actually stopped recently, as in about 3 or 4 weeks ago and I haven’t had any problems quitting. I’ve been a bit more irritable but that’s it. What are these very harmful effects you reference? If you have problems with depression maybe it’s just you, and not the drug (not to come across as rude). Obviously there are other options for treating depression, but I personally would never want to be on anti-depression meds. They can completely change your entire personality to make you somebody who you are not. If it helps for somebody to chill out and smoke some weed then I’m all for them having the right to do so.

I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or what, but I built my gaming computer (dual core 3ghz cpu, 4gb ddr2 ram, radeon hd 4850 gpu among other things) for under $500 excluding a case/monitor/mouse/keyboard which I already had. With those things it would be closer to $700 if you don’t buy some luxurious peripherals and or some huge monitor. So, I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at. And that’s for a gaming computer. If you just want to do work on your computer you could build it for even cheaper.

I’m making this comment because many people aren’t aware but you can actually buy computer parts and assemble them yourself (it’s not that hard, look up videos on youtube) or are not aware of how cost effective it is to do so. Just thought I’d let you know in case you ever find yourself considering buying some random Dell computer for some ridiculous price like $1200. Also, a lot of bullshit prices get added on when they pre-install stupid software you don’t need or want. This does not happen if you do it yourself. :)

No, I was implying that people who seek to legalize marijuana have an agenda of freedom. That has nothing to do with meth, crack, heroin, etc. I already stated later in my post that those drugs are life destroying.

I’m not sure what DU is, but I will gladly take a huge rip from my bong.

Long time lurker, just signed up to comment on this, in the interest of clearing some things up:

"I don’t think it’s over the top. Not at all. The drug business is like anything else. It’s agenda driven. Meaning the escalation of meth, cocaine and other harder drugs are naturally to follow."
    The agenda of freedom?

"Take sexual perversion as an example. We decriminalized rape, incest, gay sex, even sex abuse with a minor. We voted in gay marriages, elected queers to Congress. Even gonna make one a SC justice."
I'm sorry, when was rape decriminalized? When was sex abuse of a minor decriminalized?

"So no. It’s not a far reach from pot to meth and heroin."
Yes, it absolutely is. One has medical benefits and is not life destroying, the others are life destroying.

"Oh. And don’t forget. These sick-o groups are after our children."
Oh please. I am concerned for our children just as much as anybody with all of the things going on in our country right now, but how are marijuana smokers sickos? And how are they after our children? Prop 19 would make the legal age to purchase cannabis 21. Are 21 year olds children? This will take control of marijuana away from the dealers and put it into the hands of a business that is regulated under state law.
