According to Paraday’s own calculation of payment due after retirement — which included three unused personal days, 532 unused sick days and 350 unused vacation days multiplied by his nearly $2,000 per diem rate — the district owed him $1,757,229.45, documents show. Paraday allegedly permitted himself to accumulate compensatory time without limit for any day in which he worked more than eight hours, despite his contract not allowing for the accrual or use of comp time. Since fiscal year 2006, when he started as superintendent, Paraday had used 2,484.65 hours of comp time, or the equivalent of 310 days, records...

Bill Polster is a second amendment advocate and constitutionalist who has been educating people about their rights to openly carry weapons for years. GARY, Ind. - Federal agents raided a northwestern Indiana township trustee's office Thursday, although they stayed mum on the reasons for the raid. FBI agents were joined with officers from the Indiana State Police and the IRS in a sweep of Calumet Township Trustee Mary Elgin's office in Gary on Thursday. Call 6 Investigator Kara Kenny found a 2011 audit of the trustee's office that raised concerns about the township's finances, including nine employees with take-home cars.

"Why do they teach about the Holocaust, but deny students the opportunity to learn from me?” My mother, a Holocaust survivor¸ asked me that question when she learned that she and I were disinvited to speak at Purdue University, Calumet because a presentation about the “Nazi Roots of Modern Anti-Semitism” was deemed “too controversial” and potentially upsetting to some students. I was stunned by the cancellation and had no answer to my mother’s question.
