Polls can be deceiving, but money talks. According to fundraising, Texas Senator Ted Cruz is the frontrunner in the GOP presidential race. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson have raked in the cash from big and small donors, respectively, but only Ted Cruz has both a strong and balanced appeal. At this point in the presidential race, the money a candidate has raised, and from whom, may be a stronger indicator of longevity than his or her position in the “horse race†polls. Former Texas Governor Rick Perry had a rich super PAC, but his lack...

The current presidential campaign is blowing up lots of political myths. The Republican field is far more diverse, although the candidates see their ethnicity as incidental rather than essential, in bumper-sticker fashion, to their personas. The candidates include the young (44-year-old Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal and Marco Rubio), the ethnically diverse (Mr. Cruz, Mr. Jindal, Mr. Rubio and Ben Carson), and successful outsiders who do not have political backgrounds (Mr. Carson, Mr. Trump and Carly Fiorina). In contrast, the Democrat candidates appear far older, are all white, and are all political has-beens. Multimillionaire Hillary Rodham Clinton alone boasts of her...

When Washington Post fact-checker Glen Kessler awarded Marco Rubio ‘Two Pinocchios‘ for his CNBC debate assessment that the recent Benghazi hearings had exposed Hillary Clinton as a liar, he rooted his conclusion –partially, at least — in two factors. First, he argued that although it’s legitimate to point out Hillary’s conflicting statements about the attacks, jumping to “lie†requires a higher standard of proof. Given the alleged “fog of war†that hung over the deadly event, Kessler said, it’s unfair and uncharitable to accuse Clinton of outright lying. Second, he cited a statement from Clinton’s campaign flat-out denying that...

Hyper-lame Jeb Bush is reportedly re-launching his presidential primary campaign with a corny 'Jeb Can Fix It' theme which is sure to have the others quaking-in-their-boots (lol). He's also planning to release a new e-book in conjunction with the new messaging that highlights Jeb's time as governor of Florida... Trouble is Jeb still doesn't seem to understand that this is an election where 'experience' in government is largely seen as a negative... and only Ted Cruz seems able to project the desirable 'outsider' image while still actually a politician. Nobody is going to give a damn about some drivel re. what...

The chief operating officer of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush's struggling presidential campaign is out, according to a Friday report in the Wall Street Journal. Christine Ciccone was responsible for logistics and got paid about $12,000 a month. “We are grateful to have had Christine on the team, we respect her immensely,†Bush spokesman Tim Miller told the Journal. This comes about a week after reports that Bush was downsizing his staff at the campaign's Miami headquarters and slashing payroll by 40 percent. The talks of money trouble come despite the fact that the super PAC supporting Bush's candidacy, Right...

Jeb Bush laughed off the notion that his campaign is "terminal" on Thursday, a day after the former Florida governor struggled to get airtime on stage at the third Republican primary debate and walked into his Florida rival's trap.

Hannity said on his show while speaking with Cruz that he would send a note to Murdock about having a debate moderated by the big three. Better yet, what if the big three moderated a Democrat debate! ROTFL

Washington (AFP) - Jeb Bush appeared destined to waltz to the 2016 Republican nomination, but his presidential bid has been upended to the point that even his cherished family pedigree might not be enough to salvage his flagging campaign. Charles Foster, a prominent immigration lawyer who raises money for Bush, said the meeting was mischaracterized by some as an emergency session where the clan swooped in to reverse the slide. "It's a long race and Jeb's campaign is set up to go the distance," he told AFP.

Friday, October 23, 2015 Akin: Illinois ranks high for creating lawsuits, not jobs By Travis Akin - The University of Illinois football team is struggling once again this year, mired at the bottom of the Big Ten and near the bottom of numerous national rankings. Similarly, the State of Illinois is stuck near the bottom of another set of rankings, only these rankings reflect not just lost games but lost jobs and thus are important to every person living in Illinois. These important but depressing rankings come from a new national study that confirms Illinois’ status as a lawsuit haven,...

Rick Perry was also quite “strong†on campaign spending shortly before he dropped out, as I recall.Bush told Megyn Kelly last night that he’s in this race for the long haul. We’ll see about that. The campaign is removing some senior staff from the payroll, parting ways with some consultants, and downsizing its Miami headquarters to save more than $1 million per month and cut payroll by 40 percent this week, according to Bush campaign officials who requested anonymity to speak about internal changes. Senior leadership positions remain unchanged. The campaign is also cutting back 45 percent of its budget,...

As he brags that he is turning down millions of dollars for his presidential campaign, Donald Trump has leveled a steady line of attack against his rivals: that they are too cozy with big-money super PACs and may be breaking the law by coordinating with them. “You know the nice part about me?” he told reporters in Iowa in August. “I don’t need anybody’s money.” What Trump doesn’t say is that he and his top campaign aide have connections to a super PAC collecting large checks to support his candidacy — a group viewed by people familiar with his campaign...

Donald Trump likes to boast about his enormous wealth and how he doesn't need anyone else's money to pay for his presidential campaign. That hasn't stopped tens of thousands of people from chipping in with checks as small as $10 to let the Republican candidate know they're behind him.

Don’t dismiss the soft-spoken neurosurgeon’s presidential prospects. Carson’s a better bet to survive the opening round of primaries than Donald Trump. With anger at Washington and career politicians at historic levels, a mild-mannered outsider starts catching momentum despite being viewed as a naive novice. His unsophisticated personality draws mockery from political insiders, but does little to dent his poll numbers. His appeal to evangelical voters gives him an inside track in the Iowa caucuses, even as it makes party leaders uncomfortable. His record is attacked as extreme, even within his own party. Yet he holds significant leads in early general-election...

This man is in second place nationally, and tied for first if you believe a few recent polls. He's steadily gained momentum and ground on Donald Trump, and now he's going to capitalize on his momentum by...stepping away from the campaign trail for two weeks for a hybrid fundraising push/book tour. ABC News reports: Republican presidential contender Dr. Ben Carson has put his public campaign events on hold for two more weeks to go on book tour for his new tome “A More Perfect Union” and catch up on fundraising events. The campaign has been careful to separate campaign events...

Hillary is furious — and while Clinton advisers think that may save her, it’s making the lives of those who work for her hell. “Hillary’s been having screaming, child-like tantrums that have left staff members in tears and unable to work,” says a campaign aide. “She thought the nomination was hers for the asking, but her mounting problems have been getting to her and she’s become shrill and, at times, even violent.” In one incident, Hillary berated a low-level campaign worker for making a scheduling mistake. When the girl had the nerve to turn her back on Hillary and walk...
