Unlawful: James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas has exposed campaign workers for U.S. Representative and Senate candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke appearing to engage in illegally funneling campaign resources to help Honduran migrants traveling in a caravan heading towards the U.S. O’Rourke staffers Dominic Chacon and AnaPaula Themann admit to facilitating transportation to airports and bus stations. Chacon: “The Hondurans, yeah… I’m going to go get some food right now, like just some stuff to drop off…” Themann: “How did they get through?” Chacon: “Well I think they accepted them as like asylum-seekers… So, I’m going to get some groceries and some blankets…”

In addition to his highly anticipated flat tax proposal to be announced tomorrow, the Texas governor and former front runner in the GOP presidential sweepstakes is shaking up his campaign staff big time.

It almost seems like a political tradition: the great John McCain campaign-staff shake-up. As the Arizona Republic's Dan Nowicki first reported Sunday, the top two staffers in McCain's Senate re-election effort — campaign manager Shiree Verdone and her deputy, Mike Hellon — have decamped. The two will work for the Arizona Republican Party, overseeing strategy for a "victory" fundraising effort for statewide candidates, including McCain. The move comes on the heels of a recent TV ad meant to tout McCain's border security credentials, including a push for a stronger fence along the U.S.-Mexico border. "Complete the danged fence," McCain says...

Claims that the charges against McCain are “unsourced” leave out one source that is prominently mentioned: John Weaver. So – who is he, and can he be believed? I recall that Weaver’s name was directly associated with the stories, delivered to the press in the 2004 Bush-Kerry contest, that McCain was flirting with an offer floated by Kerry to become Kerry’s running mate. In the retelling of that story by the Kerry people, the person who is square in the middle of the discussions and negotiations was -- John Weaver. When McCain’s campaign was imploding, back in the fall 07, because...

Thompson Adviser Quits Campaign Nov 5 02:58 PM US/Eastern WASHINGTON (AP) - An adviser to Republican Fred Thompson quit the presidential candidate's campaign Monday, one day after a report about his decades- old criminal record for drug dealing. "I have decided to resign my position as chair of 'First Day Founders' of 'The Friends of Fred Thompson,'" Philip Martin said in a statement. "The focus of this campaign should be on Fred Thompson's positions on the issues and his outstanding leadership ability, not on mistakes I made some 24 years ago. I deeply regret any embarrassment this has caused." The...

Fred Thompson’s presidential campaign continues to have more departures than a Greyhound bus terminal. Thompson personally hired Jim Mills, a highly respected Fox News producer, as his press spokesman. Two weeks later, after Thompson hired William Lacy as his campaign manager, Thompson fired Mills. Mills gave up a hefty paycheck at Fox to join the Thompson campaign. He told friends he considered Thompson essential to the future of America. His firing outraged colleagues at Fox. Because Mills joined a campaign, his chances of being re-hired are diminished. He is still looking for a job. J. T. Mastranadi, Thompson’s director of...

LITTLE ROCK - Tim Griffin, who resigned his post as interim U.S. attorney in Little Rock after serving six months under scrutiny, said he is now an adviser for former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson's expected presidential campaign. Thompson, a former Republican senator from Tennessee and a regular on "Law & Order," was expected to formally announce his candidacy Thursday. "Clearly, Sen. Thompson is who I think is going to serve the (Republican) party best in the 2008 elections," Griffin told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in a story published in its Wednesday edition. "I think he has broad appeal. I think he's...

On the eve of his big day, Fred Thompson has let another staffer go. Jim Mills, the former Fox News producer who joined the campaign only weeks ago, has resigned due to "strategic differences." This from campaign manager Bill Lacy in a memo to the staff, sent out Tuesday "just before we begin the Big Dance." "Our new Communications Director Todd Harris is building an experienced and aggressive team of campaign professionals to help lead our press operation," Lacy wrote. He added, "This constitutes a substantial shift, not in our candidate's message, but in the way we support it and...

Accelerating free fall pretty well describes the current Presidential campaign status of DNC candidate John Kerry’s 2004 bid for the White House. Having been spanked like the red headed step child of Saddam Hussein for weeks now, by everyone from his fellow Vietnam Vets and POW’s, to his fellow Democrat Senator Zell Miller, he sends out a distress signal and calls the Clinton cavalry in an attempt to save his sinking ship. From his hospital bed awaiting open heart surgery, Clinton gives the beleaguered candidate his best professional campaign advice, “Stop talking about Vietnam”, advice that would have been more...
