The Canadian dollar has posted gains on Monday session, continuing the upward trend which marked the Friday. USD/CAD is trading at 1.2860. The Canadian dollar posted strong gains on Friday, which was somewhat surprising as Canadian markets were closed for Canada Day. US markets are closed on Monday for Independence Day, so there are no scheduled US events. Canada will publish Manufacturing PMI and the BoC Business Outlook Survey. With the financial markets understandably focused on the stunning Brexit vote, the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy has shifted to the back-burner. That could change later this week, with the release of...

This July 4, let's not mince words: American independence in 1776 was a monumental mistake. We should be mourning the fact that we left the United Kingdom, not cheering it. Of course, evaluating the wisdom of the American Revolution means dealing with counterfactuals. As any historian would tell you, this is a messy business. We obviously can't be entirely sure how America would have fared if it had stayed in the British Empire longer, perhaps gaining independence a century or so later, along with Canada. But I'm reasonably confident a world in which the revolution never happened would be better...

A Proposed free mobility labour zone between Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada has strong support, according to a poll. A survey commissioned by the Royal Commonwealth Society in London found that 70 per cent of Australians, 82 per cent of Kiwis, 58 per cent of Brits and 75 per cent of Canadians are in support of reciprocal open borders between [these UK] nations when it comes to living and working in them. If the UK exits the EU, it would no longer be bound by the EU’s free labour movement laws. end of except, i added in brackets...

NEW YORK – Ten years ago, the New York Times reported on a growing underground subculture in the black community known as Down Low, comprised largely of men who secretly engage in homosexual activity while living “straight” lives in public. It’s within that subtext that opposition researchers for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign began investigating rumors that Rev. Jeremiah Wright was running a “matchmaking service” for members of his Trinity United Church of Christ known as the Down Low Club, which included Barack Obama. Over the past several months, WND investigators have interviewed a number of members of the church...

On December 1 of this year, the Canadian government will lift the visa requirement for Mexican visitors. Immigration experts are concerned that “Canada will now become even more of a launching point for illegal entry into the United States.” Immigration watchers are concerned that illegal aliens will use the opportunity to come across the “largely unguarded” Canadian-United States border. The Director of Policy Studies at the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), Jessica Vaughan, told Breitbart Texas, “This could be enticing because some parts of our southern border have been hardened and are now very difficult to cross without being detected.”...

The Maple Leaf Forever in my view is the true national anthem of Canada, written by Alexander Muir, it is the best Canadian song ever made.

In a speech to Canada’s parliament on Wednesday, the president of the United States embraced globalization and the “international order,” rejecting politicians who hearken back to “bygone days of order and predictability and national glory.” Without naming Donald Trump, President Barack Obama warned that the Republican presidential candidate is playing on people’s fears of globalization: “The world is more prosperous than ever before. But alongside globalization and technological wonders, we also see a rise in inequality and wage stagnation across the advanced economies, leaving too many workers and communities fearful of diminishing prospects, not just for themselves, but more importantly,...

Our final update on our story out of Fredericton High School in New Brunswick, Canada—where twenty-seven hundred pages obtained by an access to information request revealed adult migrant men attending classes, harassing their younger Canadian peers while demanding gender segregation, halal foods, and even demonstrating excitement over the bombings in Brussels earlier this year.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says she feels sympathy for Donald Trump supporters who are taken in by the New Yorker, but warned voters that she thinks his message is offensive. “I am sympathetic to a lot of the people attracted by Trump’s message, who are feeling really left out and left behind,” she said during a YouTube Creators summit in Los Angeles, California on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON -- I see that CNN is calling upon the good offices of Mr. Potato Head to refute Donald Trump's evisceration of Hillary Clinton in his speech last Wednesday. Mr. Potato Head is very indignant that Peter Schweizer has written a book, "Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich," demonstrating that a pattern of corruption exists in the relationship between The Clinton Foundation and the Clinton State Department. He says that pattern of corruption does not establish the Clintons' guilt. Well, an author can only do so much....

“I know this, because we received a confidential tip from a parent, who couldn’t get anyone in New Brunswick to help. The media, the police, the politicians — everybody is petrified of being called ‘racist’ for even mentioning the disaster that has come from putting unassimilated Muslim migrant men right into our schools.” Just as in Rotherham, England: officials were so afraid of being accused of “racism” and “Islamophobia” that they let Muslim rape gangs destroy the lives of hundreds, and maybe over a thousand, non-Muslim girls. The fear of “racism” will be the death of the free West. ===========================================================...

Before a rapturous Canadian House of Commons on Wednesday, President Barack Obama grappled with the cascade of grim and chaotic news — with Orlando and Istanbul, Brexit and what he called an "increasingly strained" international order that is "riven by old divisions and fresh hatreds." But Obama also used the speech — the first to be delivered in the Commons by a U.S. president since Bill Clinton in 1995 — to talk up the "extraordinary alliance" between Canada and the United States. "In a world where too many borders are a source of conflict, our two countries are joined by...

Ontario is introducing gender-neutral driver's licences and health cards. Beginning in early 2017, drivers will be able to select X, instead of an M for male or F for female for their licences. And this month, the province started issuing health cards that no longer display information about a person's sex on the front of the card. People who want a new health card without the sex identifier before their regular renewal date can obtain one immediately through ServiceOntario at no cost. The Liberal government says it is making these changes "to ensure the fair, ethical and equitable treatment of...

A man whose face was left permanently scarred after the tables were turned on him when he and an accomplice tried to rob a jewelry store in Park Extension has been sentenced to a 12-year prison term. Richardson François, 31, received the sentence Wednesday afternoon during a hearing at the Montreal courthouse. Quebec Court Judge Hélène Morin mentioned the fact that François ‎remains heavily scarred by the nitric acid that was tossed in his face in January 2013 while reading from her judgment. But she did not list it as a mitigating factor when she explained how she reached the...

In a scene unlikely to be replicated in Congress anytime soon, members of the Canadian Parliament gave President Obama repeated standing ovations and chanted “four more years” at the outgoing U.S. Commander in Chief on Wednesday. Obama was visiting Canada for the North American Leaders’ Summit between the U.S. President, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a meeting that has been dubbed variously the “Three Amigos Summit” and “dude-plomacy.” …

The tip that led originally TheRebel to investigate contained a Facebook post from a Fredericton parent saying that refugees as old as 22 “with full beards and better built than the hockey team” are enrolled in the school, where they try “hitting on the 14-15 year old girls of that year, but are being brushed off.” Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2016/06/28/report-adult-refugees-enrolled-in-canadian-high-school-harassing-young-girls/#ixzz4D1agz8Yq

Emails between school officials at one Canadian high school reveal the school has been struggling to integrate into the school adult Syrian refugees, who reportedly are bullying and threatening students and teachers, as well as making advances on young teenage girls. One email from the head of the school’s international students department expressed concern that the Brussels attack would have a “trickle down” effect on the refugee students. After receiving a tip about Fredericton High School in New Brunswick, Canada — a region that has been aggressively resettling thousands of Syrian refugees — Canadian news organization TheRebel submitted a freedom...

KAMLOOPS - Nicole Mulcahy and Betty Timuss were having dinner in their home along Heffley Creek Saturday evening when they heard what sounded like two animals fighting. The first time they heard it, they didn't think much of it. But then they heard it again. This time it was clearl. A girl yelling "I can't swim! Help!" Timuss got her binoculars out and spotted the girl floating in the North Thompson River, only her head visible. Mulcahy ran across her back yard onto the dirt road in front of their home, where she saw her neighbours Avtar and Paul Hothi....

The Ontario lottery corporation recently started advertising its newest scratch-and-win lottery: tickets cost $30 (the highest price among its lotteries), and the top prize is a cool $2.5 million. Now, if you want an indication of how bad traffic is in the GTA, consider that Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca announced a lottery of his own on Thursday: tickets cost $180 each, though you only pay if you win. The prize? One of 1,000 permits to drive in an uncongested highway lane for 16 kilometres between Burlington and Oakville. The ad copy writes itself: Imagine the freedom of cruising at...
