Democrat Rep. Karen Bass has been declared the projected winner in the Los Angeles mayor race over billionaire Rick Caruso. NBC News declared Bass the projected winner on Wednesday after she pulled ahead of Caruso as late and mail-in ballots were counted throughout the week since Election Day. As of this writing, with 76 percent reporting, Bass holds a seven-point lead over Caruso — 53.1 to 46.9 percent. With her victory, Bass will become the city’s first female mayor.

Democratic Party favorite Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA) has taken the lead from billionaire developer Rick Caruso (D) in the race for mayor of Los Angeles as ballots continued to be counted. Caruso had a slender lead on Election Night, but as mail-in ballots have come in, Bass has edged to a narrow lead. With two-thirds of the vote counted as of Saturday night, according to the Los Angeles Times, Bass has 50.8% of the vote, and Caruso has 49.2%. Bass ran a traditional Democratic campaign, reaching out to the party’s various interest groups and ethnic constituencies.

As mentioned previously, the race for mayor of Los Angeles features a non-leftist candidate, Rick Caruso, who is polling well and just might win. LA badly needs some adult supervision. The city has around 40,000 homeless, rampant crime, and a corrupt culture at city hall. The main leftist candidate is Rep.
