A man accused of murdering at least 12 people in Texas, has been identified as an illegal immigrant, with a previous arrest record. However, despite his illegal status, the suspected killer was never deported. Dallas News reported that the city of Dallas is joining some other Texas cities, including Austin and San Antonio, in taking on the state’s so-called “sanctuary city” law. Mayor Mike Rawlings made the announcement Wednesday afternoon, calling SB4 “unconstitutional” and a law that “greatly infringes on the city’s ability to protect” the public.

Michael Lindell invested $1 million into a new film from the makers behind 'God's Not Dead,' and plans to keep spending on projects that fit his message. There's a new film financier around town: the unapologetic Trump-loving, born-again Christian conservative founder of My Pillow, who is sure to stand out in Hollywood. Michael Lindell, worth an estimated $300 million, tells The Hollywood Reporter he has plowed $1 million into Unplanned, an upcoming feature that was shot in secret due to its critical take on Planned Parenthood. His investment amounts to one-sixth the entire production budget of Unplanned, which comes from...

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff said impeachment proceedings could bolster congressional efforts to obtain information the Trump administration won't release. “It provides an additional tool,” the California Democrat told CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday. “What we have been doing is we have been gradually escalating the tactics we need to use to get information for the American people. So we began by asking for voluntary cooperation, and that was not forthcoming. We followed with subpoenas, we followed with contempt. We may follow with inherent contempt, and we may have to follow with impeachment.” The White House has refused to...

Historian Wilfred McClay aspires to be the antidote to Zinn, whom he accuses of “greatly oversimplifying the past and turning American history into a comic-book melodrama in which ‘the people’ are constantly being abused by ‘the rulers.’ ” Mr. McClay’s counterpoint, which comes out next week, is titled “Land of Hope: An Invitation to the Great American Story.” He says . . . he’s seen too many students drawn to Zinn because the standard textbooks are visionless and tedious. “Just as nature abhors a vacuum,” Mr. McClay says, “so a culture will find some kind of grand narrative of itself...

President Trump on Sunday ripped Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) for saying that the president had reached the "threshold for impeachment," accusing the conservative lawmaker of leveling the charge "for the sake of getting his name out there through controversy." "Never a fan of @justinamash, a total lightweight who opposes me and some of our great Republican ideas and policies just for the sake of getting his name out there through controversy," Trump said on Twitter. ....he would see that it was nevertheless strong on NO COLLUSION and, ultimately, NO OBSTRUCTION...Anyway, how do you Obstruct when there is no crime and,...

The B-17 “Flying Fortress” is one of the most iconic aircraft of World War II. Built by Boeing, the four-engine bomber was the United States’ primary weapon of destruction in the air campaign to annihilate cities and bring Nazi Germany to its knees. Its combat performance was decidedly uneven, yet no one questions its primacy in the war. The B-17E, the first mass-produced model, carried nine machine guns and a 4,000-pound bomb load. Its distinctive and enormous tail improved control and stability during high-altitude bombing. Crews loved its smoothness—“It flew like an overgrown Piper Cub,” said one pilot—and its ability...

Checking out at the supermarket, the young cashier suggested to the much older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this ''green thing'' back in my earlier days." The young cashier responded, "That's our problem today – your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations." She was right -- our generation didn't have the ''green thing'' in its day. Back then, we returned milk bottles, lemonade bottles and beer bottles to the shop. The shop sent them...

The “Terminator” is going easy on the nut who took him down Saturday. Arnold Schwarzenegger tweeted Sunday that he isn’t going to sic the cops on the crazed man who drop-kicked him at a kids’ sporting event in South Africa. “A lot of you have asked, but I’m not pressing charges. Iowa farmer Tim Bardole survived years of low crop prices and rising costs by cutting back on fertilizer and herbicides and fixing broken-down equipment rather than buying new. When President Donald Trump’s trade war with China made a miserable situation worse, Bardole used up any equity his operation had and started investing in hogs in hopes they’ll do better than crops. A year later, the dispute is still raging and soybeans hit a 10-year-low. But Bardole says he supports his president more today than he did when he cast a ballot for Trump in 2016, skeptical he would follow through...

Former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld, who is challenging President Trump for the 2020 Republican presidential nomination, said Saturday that the government should not interfere with a woman's right to an abortion. “The way I look at it, it’s kind of a power issue,” Weld said while campaigning in New Hampshire, according to The Associated Press. “And who wants a lot of big, fat, white guys who live in Washington 700 miles away making the decision about what’s going to happen about a family pregnancy where the family has basis for some views and maybe wants to terminate the pregnancy.” Weld...

FULL TITLE: Abortion-rights groups see donations soar as Alabama law draws attention from activists, 2020 candidates Washington (CNN)Donations to abortion-rights groups surged this week as presidential candidates, activists and even a group of Portland, Oregon, basketball fans reacted to Alabama enacting the nation's strictest abortion law. In four days, the National Network of Abortion Funds raised $504,000 from more than 18,000 people to help fund abortions, according to executive director Yamani Hernandez. That's nearly double the 9,500 donations the group receives annually, she said. "I feel like people have our backs," said Hernandez, whose organization supports 76 other funds in...

Washington (CNN)Utah GOP Sen. Mitt Romney said Sunday he does not support the recently passed Alabama law that would ban abortions with few exceptions, going further than legislation in any other state. "I don't support the Alabama law," Romney told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union." Romney, a former Massachusetts governor who was the Republican presidential nominee in 2012, said that while he is against abortion, he favors exceptions "for rape and incest and where the life of the mother is at risk." Romney joins other prominent Republicans outside of Alabama in saying that the law goes too...

Presidential hopeful Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., did not mince words when she took aim at new abortion laws in Republican-led states, and promised to take action to counter such measures if she wins in 2020. Several states, such as Georgia, passed "heartbeat bills," which would forbid abortion once a fetal heartbeat is detected, typically after six weeks -- when many women do not yet know they are pregnant. Last week, Alabama banned nearly all abortions at any point in time, even in cases of rape or incest. "This is dangerous," she told host Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday." "It...
