On March 31, 2005, thirty years after feminism’s hey-day in the 1970s, a woman died from dehydration, on the orders of her adulterous husband, who was supported by the courts in his quest to end his wife’s life. On February 25, 1990, Theresa Schindler Schiavo collapsed in her home and suffered significant brain damage. In 1992, Mrs. Schiavo’s husband Michael was awarded a $1,050,000 malpractice settlement, of which $300,000 was allocated for Mr. Schiavo’s loss of consortium and $750,000 for Mrs. Schiavo’s rehabilitative care. Mr. Schiavo subsequently refused to allow rehabilitative care for his wife. There are other reasons to...

Two additional nurses have filed affidavits in the Terri Schiavo case that corroborate bombshell allegations by nurse Carla Sauer Iyer, who went public on Tuesday with claims that Michael Schiavo had deliberately withheld treatment from his disabled wife. Heidi Law was a certified nursing assistant at the Palm Garden Convalescent Center in Largo, Florida, where she treated Ms. Schiavo in 1997. In an affidavit filed with the court in August 2003, Ms. Law maintained: "I know that Terri did not receive routine physical therapy or any other kind of therapy. I was personally aware of orders for rehabilitation that were...

Michael Schiavo's lawyer is giving a statement live I believe at the courthouse. First he calls on people to pressure teh republican 9 NOTto support legislation to save Terri.Next he says nurse who is on tv stating Michael harmed Terri "probably" is doing this because Michael was so demanding of great treatment for Terri. That sounds totally illogical. He doesn't answer her charges except to say they are ridiculous. He just filed a new brief and has another brief due in a half hour he is about to take some questions.Michael's attorney is a real ideologue he attacked many people who...

CLEARWATER - Many local Republicans shuddered last weekend when U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay accused a Pinellas judge of "murder" and "terrorism." Such labels, troubling in any context, are particularly grating when they involve two members of the same political party. "I was absolutely so disgusted with what he said," said County Commissioner Bob Stewart. Pinellas County Property Appraiser Jim Smith, a former state legislator and Republican state committeeman, called DeLay's remarks "a disgrace." Local Republicans had their own words for Judge George Greer, who, as presiding judge in the Terri Schiavo case, ordered the removal of her feeding...

Posted on Tue, Mar. 22, 2005 THE HUSBAND Friends: Michael Schiavo good, loyal The friends of Michael Schiavo spoke out on his behalf, describing him as a decent man who never abandoned his stricken wife. BY SANDY BAUERS Knight Ridder News Service PHILADELPHIA - Friends praise Michael Schiavo He has been vilified on websites and talk shows. He has been called a wife-abuser, an adulterer, a money-grubbing murderer. Death threats have been left in his mailbox. Throngs of protesters have waved signs and chanted outside his house in Clearwater, and they have gathered again. Sometimes, even Michael Schiavo's friends have...

In a video, Terri Schiavo appears pale, puffy and fragile. Her mother, Mary Schindler, faces Terri, back to the camera from a three-quarter shot. Mrs. Schindler lifts her left hand to caress Terri's face. Terri smiles. But this can't be, for we have been told that Terri Schiavo is hopelessly brain damaged and in a "persistent vegetative state" or, as one doctor who recommended starving her to death put it, in "wakeful oblivion." Another video. It shows Terri grimacing and turning away when a doctor places a cotton swab in her mouth. Who knew that someone in a persistent vegetative...

It appears that Terri Schiavo is going to be starved and dehydrated. I don't see how it going to be stopped short of a kidnapping to save her life. If we are to believe sworn affidavits, Michael Schiavo denied his beloved wife rehab, speech, and occupational therapy. Terri actually was able to drink from a baby bottle and ate pudding and jello. He threatened to fire a nurse if she got nourishment from anything but the feeding tube? Why just the feeding tube? Because he could have that pulled and starve her to death. He had no interest in seeing...
