Commercial structures in downtown Lower Lake and residences were in flames Sunday afternoon as the Clayton fire exploded, forcing thousands of people to flee homes and abandon businesses. By 5 p.m. flames had engulfed numerous commercial buildings in Lower Lake along Main Street, including the town’s post office, a tire store, a funeral home and restaurants, despite the combined efforts of firefighters, water tankers and helicopters. State Sen. Mike McGuire, who was on the fire lines Sunday with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, saw the blaze burn down into Lower Lake on Sunday afternoon. “Lower Lake may be completely lost,”...

CLAYTON, Missouri -- Protesters seeking the immediate arrest of the white Ferguson police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black 18-year-old loudly disrupted another government meeting Tuesday. The group renewed calls to remove the county prosecutor investigating the case and vowed political retaliation against an elected official tied to the prosecutor. The demand for officer Darren Wilson's arrest and the recusal of the St. Louis County prosecuting attorney began with the final utterance of the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the St. Louis County Council meeting. "For all," crowd members shouted, emphasizing the second word, as the pledge...

Last night at the premier of Hating Breitbart in Washington DC, FOX News contributor and Huffington Post writer Ryan Clayton was escorted from the theater. ... This was after he got up and started screaming in the middle of the film. ... Far left activist Ryan Clayton has appeared several times on FOX News. ... Ryan Clayton actually appears in the Hating Breitbart documentary where he talks about the need for civil discourse in society… And then is seen viciously attacking Andrew Breitbart. Unreal.

A federal judge this week refused to void the Tennessee Democratic primary for U.S. Senate won by an anti-gay candidate the party has disavowed. --snip-- The petition contended that the party committed fraud because it could have kept Clayton off the ballot by meeting an April deadline to tell the state he wasn't a bona fide Democrat under the party's by-laws. The lawsuit also claimed the state's alphabetical arrangement of candidates' names on the ballot creates an unfair advantage for some candidates. The petition noted Clayton's 2008 Senate race, in which he lost to former state Democratic Party chairman Bob...

Regarding Eugene Volokh’s post below about an NYU L. Rev. article, “The People” of the Second Amendment: Citizenship and the Right To Bear Arms. I just scanned the article, and there appears to be only a single footnote which directly cites any state statutes from before 1800. Note 125, accurately cites standard statutory compilations from Massachusetts and Connecticut for laws against selling firearms to Indians. Although the author is apparently unaware that by 1661 (Connecticut) and 1688 (Massachusetts) the laws were changed to allow gun sales (and even gun carrying in towns) by friendly Indians. The article suffers very severely...

CHICK-FIL-NO-THANK-YOU: Focus St. Louis and the Clayton Chamber of Commerce said today that they are canceling a planned presentation by Dan Cathy, president and COO of Chick-fil-A, following complaints that Cathy and his company are involved with anti-gay organizations. Chick-fil-A, which is known for promoting a company vision of Christian values, was enmeshed in a controversy earlier this year involving an independent Chick-fil-A operator in Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Family Institute, which is affiliated with the Family Resource Institute. The latter institute was recently designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center because of its anti-gay positions. The...

Clayton was talking to Rush yesterday about Barack Obama's ears. Clayton said "What do we gain by talking about his ears?" Rush explained that Maureen Dowd originally wrote a column about his ears and that Rush was responding to it. Clayton just kind of blew his answer off. Then again this morning Clayton again brings up the ears thing. "What does Rush gain by bringing up his ears?" BUT HE DIDN'T INCLUDE RUSH'S ANSWER! UGH! THAT'S SO ANNOYING!
