Major League Baseball says the Cleveland Indians will stop using the Chief Wahoo logo on their uniforms starting in the 2019 season. The league says the logo, which features a smiling Native American, is not appropriate for field use. It has had discussions with the Indians in hopes that the franchise move away from the logo, which had been used in some capacity for the franchise since the 1947 season and was still prevalent on the team's baseball caps and on its uniforms. The obituary published in the Sandusky Register says Paul Stark, of Huron, died Wednesday at a hospice facility after a brief illness "exacerbated by the hopeless condition of the Cleveland Browns." The football team was 1-15 last season and 0-15 this year ahead of Sunday's finale at Pittsburgh. Even so, Stark's obituary included a nugget of the optimism voiced by some long-suffering fans. It says the 80-year-old Mansfield native "passed just before the Browns were prepared to turn the corner."

The Browns secured their 0-16 season after losing to a Pittsburgh Steelers team that featured mostly backups on the road. The Browns had their chances at avoiding the wrong type of perfection, and just fell short in a 28-24 loss. As only the Browns could, the game was filled with highs and lows. Armed employees at a Cleveland Taco Bell shot and killed a would-be robber early Wednesday, police said. Police responded to the store in the city's Edgewater neighborhood shortly before 3 a.m. and found the suspect suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Bishop Perez, 56, has been Auxiliary Bishop of Rockville Centre since 2012. He succeeds Bishop Richard Lennon, who resigned in December 2016 at the age of 69 due to health reasons. Fr. Bellisario, 60, a member of the Congregation of the Mission and rector of Our Lady of Guadalupe Co-Cathedral in Anchorage, succeeds Bishop Edward Burns, who was installed as Bishop of the Diocese of Dallas in February.

CLEVELAND - A Cleveland police dispatcher has received a 6 days suspension for sleeping on duty, and the FOX 8 I-TEAM has obtained police radio tapes showing her snoring after taking a call. The discipline has been issued to Jasmin Thomas. In March, the I-TEAM revealed the internal investigation. Now that the punishment has been handed out, we’re learning more, and the city has released dispatch tapes after a public records request.
