COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - It's a new twist on the old IRS scam and it ended with a Colorado Springs woman being surrounded by the SWAT team. According to KKTV, police swarmed the home on Windy Oaks Road near Northgate and Highway 83 on the north side of Colorado Springs on Tuesday after receiving several 911 calls. One call said the homeowner, Jim Davis, was threatening to kill other people. In another call someone pretending to be Jim Davis said armed men were outside demanding money.

With a collect phone call to a Denver news station, Robert Lewis Dear Jr. again claimed full responsibility for raining terror on the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic. Getting a court to recognize his confession - and his avowed willingness to face the death penalty - won't be so easy. ... "I felt like they were going to get me and so I am going to pick where I want to make my last stand," he told Denver-based CBS4. "And I picked Planned Parenthood because it's murdering little babies."

COLORADO SPRINGS, December 11, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – Yes, you read that correctly: there was a strong Christian pro-life element to the tragic shooting at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood. But it is not the motive or the person the media has been focused on. The person is Officer Garrett Swasey, and his motive was his Christian faith. I would like to see at least one news story cover the shooting at the Planned Parenthood from the perspective of Officer Swasey. I would like at least one reporter to ask: what was his motivation? I think Officer Swasey earned it, don't...

Yes, we conservatives are the hate-filled bigots because we still use terms like "illegal immigrants," "Islamic terrorists" and oh yeah, "Merry Christmas." Yes, very hateful - and you know the American Civil Liberties Union would be first in line to point that out, except... What happens when one of their OWN squeaks out a little bona fide hate speech? His rant was accompanied by a USA Today article calling Trump a ‘fear monger in chief.’ The original post, which has been taken down, read, ‘The thing is, we have to really reach out to those who might consider voting for...

Pro-life leaders are used to being accused of hate speech by Planned Parenthood, Hillary Clinton, and campus feminist activists. But they were surprised to hear Dr. Ben Carson seem to agree that they spewed "hateful" and "immature" rhetoric on Sunday. When CBS moderator John Dickerson asked Dr. Carson whether Planned Parenthood was right that pro-life rhetoric had led to Friday's shooting inside a Colorado Springs abortion facility, the doctor readily agreed. There is "no question the hateful rhetoric exacerbates the situation," Carson said on "Face the Nation." Pro-life advocates quickly rebuffed the notion that they had pushed 57-year-old Robert Lewis...

It was one of those stunning live-TV moments revealing the seamier side of TV news. Pat Brown is a criminal profiler who has taken a principled stand on media appearances about mass murderers. She will not discuss individual criminals, their motives, etc., believing that to do so pnly increases the number of mass murders. But when Brown appeared on CNN's New Day this morning, co-host Christi Paul immediately tried to engage her in a discussion of Colorado Springs shooter Robert Dear's possible "anti-government" views. Retorted Brown: "I'm a little disturbed because I made an agreement with CNN to appear this...

Ted Cruz cited this research when he said most violent criminals are Democrats. Now the researchers say he’s wrong. In the wake of last week’s shooting at a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sen. Ted Cruz on Monday claimed that the “overwhelming majority of violent criminals are Democrats.” When asked for evidence, the senator’s campaign cited a paper we published in 2014, in which we present data on the party affiliation of ex-felons in three states. The paper Cruz cited is one in a series of papers in which we have combined public records – from departments of...

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Santa Claus says it's OK to skip church this Christmas, according to a series of billboards paid for by American Atheists. The billboards have been set up in Colorado Springs and in Raleigh, North Carolina. In Colorado Springs, there's one located near Fountain at Exit 128 and another near a Stratmoor Hills neighborhood. "We want people to know that going to church has absolutely nothing to do with being a good person, " said David Silverman, president of American Atheists. "The things that are most important during the holiday season—spending time with loved ones, charity, and...

In the wake of the Colorado Springs shooting, I read a great deal about so-called Christian terrorism from liberals. I don't think they've thought this through. We've spent years hearing how associating Islam with terrorism is outrageous and bigoted. President Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry and Hillary Clinton have all made the case that Islamic terrorism has "nothing whatsoever" -- Clinton's words -- to do with Islam. President Obama insists the Islamic State "is not Islamic." Even phrases such as "Muslim terrorism" are forbidden because they imply that Islam itself has something to do with terrorism. Better to talk...

This past Friday, a lunatic who lived in a shack with no running water or electricity killed three people in Colorado Springs, CO. He wound up going into a Planned Parenthood facility. Three people were killed. None of those were abortionists or patients. A pro-life Christian preacher/police officer was one of the victims.

As expected, no sooner had blood been spilled at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado than accusations of "Christian terrorism" began to fly across the internet, despite the fact that: 1) no motive had been announced; 2) there was no hint of a connection between the murderer and any pro-life organization; and 3) pro-life leaders immediately denounced the killings as soon as the news was released. In the words of Jason Benham, posting on Twitter, "True pro-lifers care about all life, including employees and clients of #PlannedParenthood. Praying for those in #ColoradoSpringsShooting." Or, as stated by Tony Perkins of the...

Via Grabien, skip to 4:45 of the clip below for the key bit. I naively thought we were (mostly) done with “climate of hate” stupidity after the left went all-in on that narrative to try to explain the Gabby Giffords shooting, only to find that Jared Loughner was an incoherent delusional crank. For instance, despite the fact that Dylann Roof’s motives for perpetrating the Charleston massacre were more overtly political than Loughner’s, the aftermath of that attack focused not so much on “inflammatory rhetoric” by the left’s enemies on the right as on the Confederate battle flag specifically, more an...

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, November 30, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) -- The media made a rush to judgement in blaming the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood shooting on the pro-life movement, according to Sen. Ted Cruz. Shortly after the shooting, Planned Parenthood blamed the violence outside the abortion facility on "smear campaigns." But Cruz rebutted the notion that Americans who support the right to life are responsible for 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear's shooting spree, that ended three lives. "The media promptly wants to blame him on the pro-life movement when at this point there’s very little evidence to indicate that," Cruz told The Texas...

(CNN)-Ted Cruz is condemning the deadly shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic, but is refusing to blame the attack on the anti-abortion rhetoric that has consumed stretches of the Republican primary campaign.Speaking about the alleged gunman, Robert Lewis Dear, at a campaign event in Iowa on Sunday, Cruz accused the media of wanting "to blame him on the pro-life movement when at this point there's very little evidence to indicate that." Ruth Marcus has come close to blaming Republicans for the Colorado Springs shootings. Appearing on Jose Diaz-Balart's MSNBC show today, Washington Post columnist Marcus said that "the Republican candidates . . . have been part of the inflamed and inflammatory rhetoric about Planned Parenthood, about the sale of baby parts, about dismembering live babies . . . I think it's a fair conclusion, especially based on his . . . alleged mentioning of 'no more baby parts,' that this kind of rhetoric helped create this environment." Really? Is there no room for people--without being accused of inflaming people to commit...

NEWTON, Iowa -- Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) downplayed the role anti-abortion rhetoric may have played in the fatal shooting of three people at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado and suggested the suspect was a “transgendered leftist activist" at a campaign stop in Iowa on Sunday. Speaking with reporters following the event, Cruz rejected suggestions that the shooter was part of the anti-abortion movement, taking issue with the “vicious rhetoric on the left blaming those who are pro-life.” Robert Lewis Dear, 57, was taken into custody Friday night after allegedly opening fire inside a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs,...

When last month Ben Carson suggested that people confronted by a shooter should rush him en masse, ABC ran a story criticizing him, claiming that Carson "appears to be second-guessing" the victims of the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon. But on ABC's Good Morning America today, in the wake of the mass shooting in Colorado Springs, guess what an expert suggested? "If you can get other people to go with you, that is extremely important, in fact, that's one of the teaching tools today in schools is everyone at mass start throwing stuff at the shooter and...
