Several members of Congress on Thursday afternoon took to the floor of the House of representatives to expose the horrors abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell has committed and to decry the lack of media attention to them. Congressman Marlin Stutzman, an Indiana Republican, was one of the members who spoke on the House floor this afternoon to call attention to the horrific crimes Gosnell engaged in at his Philadelphia, Pennsylvania abortion clinic. The following is the speech he delivered and a video of it: “My heart is torn as I stand on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives as...

The mainstream media has become a target of frustration for those wishing it would provide more coverage of the dramatic trial of abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell. But one congressman is upset President Barack Obama is apparently not paying much attention to it — since the president hasn’t commented on the gruesome live-birth abortion deaths. Rep. Scott Perry, a Republican from Pennsylvania, where Gosnell abortion clinic was located, blasted President Obama and the press for ignoring the Gosnell trial. “Mr. President, your silence is deafening,” Perry said on the House floor today. “Are you so blind, are you so intractable, are...

Last night, Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA) hosted an anti-gun townhall panel event at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, VA. With the help of the Arlington Falls Church Young Republicans club, hundreds of constituents from Virginia’s 8th congressional district-mostly Second Amendment activists-came to the event to express their dismay with Congressman Moran’s support for anti-gun policies. The event, “Preventing Another Newtown: A Conversation on Gun Violence in America,” featured five gun control speakers: Omar Samaha – Advocate with the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence; family member of gun violence victim in Virginia Tech tragedy David Chipman – ATF Special Agent (retired),...

Rep. Tim Murphy, who holds a senior position on the House Energy and Commerce Committee as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, has called on the Obama Administration to explain whether Al Jazeera’s purchase of Current TV from former Democratic Vice President Al Gore was given any federal review and scrutiny. But Al Jazeera is working furiously to stop the mounting congressional interest and now has three lobbying firms working to stop any hearings or investigations into the deal. Once known as the voice of Osama bin Laden, Al Jazeera is the mouthpiece of the Muslim Brotherhood and...

Finally, at least one Republican is getting tech-savvy: A Texas Republican on Monday said President Obama’s gun control campaign is a fraud based on fake messages over Twitter. Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) accused Obama of trying to make support for his position look stronger than it really is by flooding Twitter with messages from people who don’t exist. . . . Stockman said that in response to Obama’s call for people to tweet their congressman in support of gun control legislation, he received just 16 tweets. But he said all of these messages were identical, and that a closer look...

He's been thinking about some sort of political comeback since mid-2011 at least, which is no surprise from a guy who first ran for Congress in his early 30s. In fairness, policy-wise, he's always been extremely good on government spending, something Washington needs now more than ever.Anyone know of any other Congress-eligible Republicans in South Carolina who are extremely good on spending? Between DeMint and Tim Scott, I'm thinking … pretty much all of them are. Oh well: Geraghty: How long have you been thinking about a return to politics?Sanford: This came out of the blue, for all the obvious...

TO THE HONORABLE CONGRESSMAN DEVIN NUNES Sunday, October 14, 2012 Dear Sir, As your constituent and as a registered voting Republican I am sending you this letter to confirm the telephone call I made to your Washington D.C. office last week. I expressed concern and even anger at the high price of gasoline and demanded that the congress in the interest of national security, nationalize all oil refining in the United States and use Army reservists to take-over and run them. Refining should be under the direct control of the government and in particular, the Army Corp of Engineers. The...

Kansas Republican Tim Huelskamp issued a challenge to the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Tuesday: Adopt the same calorie restrictions and menu standards in the department’s cafeterias as the USDA now requires in the nation’s public schools. While students pick at their vegetables, USDA’s cafeteria menus are loaded with unhealthy options for government employees — from pesto chicken pizza to BLTs with cheddar cheese, Cuban pork paninis to Philly steak subs, cheeseburgers to French toast. TAMPA -- Army Staff Sgt. Matt Sitton's letter from the combat zone helped turn a congressman against the war in Afghanistan. His letter to his wife from about the same time offers a glimpse into the experiences shaping his views of the war. In the letter, Sitton lashes out at his commanders, saying they were blaming their troops for failing to stop casualties. He wonders in his writing about why troops are even in Afghanistan. And he predicted the conditions his men were subject to would have ripple effects far beyond the battlefield. Complaining about an unnamed company commander, Sitton...

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), one of the five Republicans behind the controversial letter accusing Clinton aide Huma Abedin of ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, insisted Thursday morning to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano that he doesn’t accuse anyone of anti-American behavior simply because they are Muslim. “You follow me around the world, you see me hugging Muslims around the world, because the ones I hug are our friends,” Gohmert told Napolitano during a House Judiciary Committee hearing. “This administration seems to have a hard time recognizing members of terrorist groups who are allowed into the White House.” Gohmert’s questions were...
