A skydiver died after falling 13,000ft because his parachute had been tampered with, a senior detective said last night. Police have launched a major inquiry into who handled Stephen Hilder's equipment immediately prior to his jump. Halt On Faulty New £5 NoteThe Bank of England has asked banks to stop issuing its new £5 notes after discovering serial numbers on the currency can be rubbed off. The Bank said it had received around "half a dozen" calls from members of the public at the end of last week relating to serial numbers on the notes coming off. Tests have since showed that on some notes it is possible to remove both of the serial numbers if the note is rubbed hard.
